Ouch! What an absolute bastard of a first 5 games.

Urgh!! With those first 5 fixtures, let's just hope that we can get some points on the board and not lose all confidence early on.

I'd rather have had the list in reverse order. Better to get points on the board and give the team and fans some confidence, rather have a poor start and have to catch up.

Spot on.

The only positives that I can think of are that either we get a few results (and then we'll be much more confident), or alternatively we end up splashing some cash on Messi/Ronaldo/etc after we lose the first five matches.

This is what we got promoted for :icon_cool

Bring 'em on!

Can argue either way on the fixtures layout, but playing the big boys early could mean they haven't got in their stride and may just underestimate us.
(Hopefully we will get up and running straight away ;) )

There are no easy games at this level.

We had Man City early on last season. Look what happened there.

Oh joy, we have Huddersfield as our first home game. Almost glad I'll be in France.

Indeed. Even if we play well any side could easily get 0 points from the first 5 games. Pretty much 4 of the 6 best sides in the division and away to probably best team at their own ground outside that top 6.

Could easily end up damaging confidence if we get off to a stinker just because of how the fixtures have come out.

Those first few games particularly the home ones hold no fear for me. I'm not saying we are going to win them all but I can envisage quite an atmosphere for the first few home games under the circumstances and I think teams will find it tough going coming here.

The Everton game is huge though, win that and we could end up with 9+ points after 5 (optimism I know), but lose it and we could be bottom with 0-3 points after 5 games.

Don't have a problem with the way they've come out at all. I'd bet my bottom dollar the home game against Arsenal is moved for TV.

I'll stop being a pessimist now and say it's great to see the likes of Chelsea, Arsenal and Man Utd on our fixture list now and let's crack on with it!

Holy shit, that's a feckin' nightmare start

The PeeStain haters must be creaming themselves with joy, and waiting to pounce

Great fixture list,

Beat the big teams when we are most confident and they are slow out of the blocks.

That final 2 blocks of games will be the toughy, a few fighting relegation amongst that lot.

Pearson always said there were no easy games in the championship. Same is true of Premier League. This way we have a chance to steal points off the big boys before they suss out how to stop Mahrez and Knockeart dancing through their defences.

April and May to save the season.

Much patience is needed this season - not sure many of the new fans will have it - and they'll find plenty of allies amongst some of the moaning older fans

Wow, tough start! But as others said, possibly best to get them early on before they get off and running. Similar set of tough games at the end of Jan/early Feb too.... so any new signings this season are going to have some tough early games for us!

Good to have an easier run in though/playing teams you'd expect to be around us at the end. Means if there is a battle for points then, it would hopefully be largely in our hands.

Of course we might be getting the points to secure a Europa League spot by then if the season starts well! ;)
