Drunkeness is pre-planned and those who get drunk know if that makes them violent or sleepy or dancers etc... Drunkeness is no excuse, it's a far worse crime than sanely pre-planned violence. It can injure and kill indiscriminately - e.g. Drink driving - those people should be put away for longer than murderers.
I think you're confusing getting drunk with committing crimes whilst being drunk.

I didn't think you cared about other people's opinions or what they thought of yours.

Having not read the article nor half of the posts I'd like to say that I think the sentence is biased because it was linked to football. A drunken street fight at new year would be unlikely to get the same sentence and would be far more publically endangering. So what sentence did they get? perhaps I'll look later.

I think it's likely that the sentencing was as hard as it was because the judge understood that the fight was little to do with football and everything to do with a pre-arranged meeting that took place in an area where it was thought that there would be no police.

Perhaps those who attend matches regularly would like to record how many of those faces they have seen at matches on more than an occasional basis.

I believe consenting adults should be allowed to go to a designated place and beat the crap out of each other without being prosecuted by law as long as they pay all related medical bills themselves.

That is not what the law says - nor is it what happened in this case.

Regognise these from games.

The punishments relate to previous crimes I can assure you. The Police were itching to punish them someone of them as there are previous incidents they've had and they've got away with it. One of the chaps I faintly know. :icon_roll

To be honest, I was mild mannered on you. I was using a method known as sarcasm, hence my totally opposing viewpoints.

I really wanted to tell you that you were talking like and a complete and utter c**t and to even remotely attempt to defend these idiots makes you look very thick and very foolish (IMO).

These "people" were fighting in a public area where members of the public were put at risk, how you feel that is defendable is beyond me.

It's people these that stop people going to football matches, it's people like these that give football a bad name. For the sake of the game's image it's great to see these people dealt with properly.

If you think their behaviour is acceptable, or that they have been treated unfairly then you shock me. I thought people who posted on this forum were human beings, I was wrong, some are clearly animals.

There you go being a big old drama queen again!

I have not once defended these idiots! my house was broken in to 8 months ago, the offenders got a fine and a ticking off because of over crowded prisons, so i was a little suprised that idiots wanting to hit other idiots who all agreed to be hit was a bigger crime.

i do see you point of you and respect that you think this a crime worthy of a prison setence, but i have a different one, i know you find it very difficult to deal with people of differing opinion but there we go.

Not really, but feel free to throw that old chestnut in any time you feel as though you are submitting in a weakened point of view.

Obviously a bunch of idiots who deserve what they get. I can see where people are coming from regards the sentence.

I know someone who was attacked from behind and nearly killed and the person who did it got a suspended sentence. I don't know all the details of what these people did or their previous, so it's hard to compare though.

i recognize at least 4 of them, some of them the old brigade from the 80's.

surprised they still do it but then again i am not.

some nasty boys from coalville.

A couple of people on there I'd never have expected to be still around now.

lets hope none of you lot meet someone elses firm down some back street in some shithole town without some of these boys you'll get kicked to f***.

Where abouts is f***? Is it a fair distance to get kicked too?

They're not feckin superheroes who come when you need them. You're in a back street taking a kicking... you shout out, "Babies, I need help"... More boots to the head is all you're gonna get.

These Feckers should be put in the stocks in the centre of Leicester and we the fans who don't bring shame to our teams get to choose what we throw at them....

8 year ban is not enough,I would make it a life ban...but let's be honest do these bans work?

Lako42,
What's to stop me from growing my hair putting on glasses and getting my mate to buy me a ticket to the Walkers?
