Football Manager is the way forward when footy isn't on. Started playing it recently for the first time in months. Made me wonder why I stopped playing it for a while.

This is the point where I point out it was meant to be ironic then someone points out that I clearly don't know the meaning of ironic and they go away feeling smug for the rest of the day.

Go sign up for guitar lessons. Go jump out an aeroplane. Go bungee jump. Go train for a marathon. Go train to climb Everest. Go do something you've always dreamed of since you were 6 years old and always said to yourself "I'll do it one day."

'kin hell. I didn't know there were free life coaching lessons on here. I've done the above...what next? Thinking of running in that marathon I trained for, or climbing Everest (trained for that too, as instructed) but could certainly do with some guidance before making a decision.

When I was 6 the depth of my thinking was "Monster Munch is lovely, I want more of it" not "You know, one day, I'll run a marathon".

When I was 6 the depth of my thinking was "Monster Munch is lovely, I want more of it" not "You know, one day, I'll run a marathon".

I was 7 when I told myself I was going to run a marathon; can I still consider myself enlightened?

In my junior school days my grandparents used to live three miles out of town and I used to go to see them on my little bike with 16" wheels - remember this was the 1950s and there was very little traffic about. I had managed to get a Youth Hostel Association directory from somewhere and I used to dream my days away, working out the hostels I would use when I cycled from one end of the country to the other.

I was 41 when I finally found myself at John O'Groats. Sixteen days later I was there again, having been to Lands End and back in the meantime. Never set foot in a hostel though; some nights I camped, a few I spent in B&B and the others I took advantage of the hospitality of conveniently located friends.
