It wasn't entirely fixed with the safety car coming out, that is what happens in F1.
You can question the decision to allow some lapped cars through but it sounds like there were talks before the race that everything should be done so the race wouldn't finish under a safety car.
I still don't understand why Merc didn't pit Lewis under either the earlier VSC or the final full safety car.
The argument is that they would have lost track position but that would only have happened if Max didn't pit. If that was the case, then Lewis would have had the tired advantage that Max had and the final lap would have been reversed.
It was a shitty way for the season to end and championship to be decided but I do think Merc could have dealt with either the VSC or full safety car better.
Fair play to Lewis though as he drove a perfect race and his post race behaviour was impeccable given the circumstances.
