Right you web monkeys. I am going to run a computer club at school with the intention of producing a small website about themselves using HTML. I am looking for a free WYSIWYG editor that is simple to use and preferably doesn't produce shitty HTML (Word and FrontPage are out then).

Any suggestions?

For a WYSIWYG, Kompozer is fairly good.
You can teach them about Open Source software at the same time

Just found that and downloaded it, will play around over the next week or so. As much as I would love to push open source, they are only 8-10 years old and wouldn't care, plus I doubt I'll get anything other than IE on the computer machines. Though the ICT guy is a big fan of Paint.NET so you never know.

When I ran adult education classes, I found Frontpage Express to be as good as anything for beginners, a straightforward interface and no rubbish in the html. It used to be bundled with an older version of IE and there are still places on the web where you can download it. If it's an RM network, it packages quite easily as well so your it support dept should be able to deploy it quite easily.

EDIT: - Others include NVu http://net2.com/nvu/

and Frontpage http://www.evrsoft.com/products.shtml
