Apparently you can't get excited about a F.A.Cup match anyway according to you previous posts. We'll tell what you missed when it happens.

I hope - for their sake - that nobody gets too excited about yesterday's game.

I must acknowledge that I didn't go - partly because I think the FA Cup is now a mere sideshow - totally downgraded by the 'Europeanisation' of our football (in Europe the cup competitions have never been taken too seriously) and of course further damaged by the withdrawal of Man U a few years ago who preferred to play a novelty game abroad somewhere.

But people should stay calm for other reasons - even tho' I understand that the team ( at least he made a sensible selection this time) played well....the end result is a draw at home against a team that quite a number of Championship sides would fancy beating at home. Kelly claims to be "delighted" by the result. He shouldn't be. It should be seen as an opportunity missed with the odds now strongly in favour of Fulham progressing. Kelly seems to have set very low sights and in my opinion is grasping at straws.

We shall see what happens when we play some serious league matches in the next couple of weeks.

Also need to be aware that there can be long queues to get on the platforms at Putney bridge after games, even with a relatively small crowd as this one is likely to be. Also, as there are basically only 2 ways to get away from the ground, there are a hell of a lot of people walking back through the park in the dark and it can slow you down.

If you drive, there is street parking near the ground (residents only or some cash&flash till 6.30), but it can take a while to find a space & a 10-15 minute walk or more back to the ground. Yellow lines on the main road (Fulham palace Road) operate until 7pm - you can usually get on them. But again, because of the river, everyone is trying to use the same road after the match & traffic clogs up for a long time.

I actually felt excited about this game and LCFC yesterday for the first time in ages,I expected us to raise our game and it was a break from the mundane business of the League.Great performance and a good result however it was one performance and unfortunately I fully expect to return to the normal gutless, clueless performance next week when we have to play a team who are going to scrap for everything.I'm just enjoying the moment and glad we are at least in the hat

You just know it don't you BG:102: We were great against Villa but when it comes to the hustle and bustle and showing some bollox in the Championship too many of our lot go missing.RK said himself that he was nice to play a team like Fulham

Southampton was a fine example. The players dont like getting wet in the rain.......

The fact that we were motivated for the this game and not the others suggests to me that something isn't right in the mentality of the players. It is up to the management to motivate the players for those occasions when they feel it is beneath them to play against "lower" and "inferior" opposition such as Southampton, West Brom etc.

Exactly Melton.

The improved performance suggests that the management doesn't or can't generally motivate the players.

That said...when i saw the team selection for the Suberland game, i was certain that it was a team picked to lose. In contrast, the selection for this match looked a bit more likely..and there did appear to be more decent options on the bench.

All this improved performance tells me is that MM should get someone in who can motivate the players on a more sustainable basis. I wouldn't know what sort of messages RK gives the players, but based on his comments about the outcomes of this match, he is far too easily pleased.

I agree. RK seems to think that a draw against anyone thats higher up the lge ladder is a good result. Well its not, and i fully expect us to go to Colchester with the attitude that 3pts is the only result we are looking for. The day we accept that the Colchesters are a bigger club than us, then we might as well give up.

Yes - and that's why I say we shall see.

The Colchester game is a good test of attitudes.

Colchester should be given respect for punching above their weight this season. But Leicester City should be going there saying "What are we doing here?". We should always expect to beat sides like Colchester - their wage bill must be a fraction of their's and they are ultimately minnows.

It will be interesting to hear what RK comes out with before this game.....he should be saying 'We are going there and of course, we expect to beat them'.
I somehow doubt that is the message we will get.
