Full Backs

Seeming as everyone has been getting all excited today with the arrival of the scottish Torres i thought I would add a little realism to the mix.

Does anyone see the fact we only have two full backs at the club as a slight concern? especially as they are both only just out of nappies and one could still well feck off to some premiership team to rot in the ressies.

I was truely hoping that we would not be back in the square peg round hole situation again this season but we may well find that happening seeing as we have no cover what so ever.



Am I worried for no reason or does anyone see this as an important part of the sqaud, what with only 1 day remaining untill the big kick off.

Its a big problem IMO, especially as 1 of em's likely to feck off soon.

Agreed it's our area of weakness now.

With Villa signing Shorey, that is one club out of the Mattock running.

Question over Gilbert is how good a defender is he.

He's delivered sweet fa so far IMO.

I dont know really, the signings look OK and we've done OK in the bit I've seen but the real 'delivery' needs to happen on Saturday.

I suspect our problems this season will be reversal of last. Strong up front but hopeless at the back. Hope I'm wrong though!!

I can see where you are coming from, but, there are still 23 days left of the transfer window and I feel that we are biding our time, waiting to see if Mattock goes . I also think NP is probably making moves already but is having to wait on players to make a decision. (fingers crossed anyway). :icon_wink

Agreed, but I think the club will take the route that dpjfox stated. In fact, some people are happy for us to entrust left back to a 17yr old.

Yeah, its a worry, players may have to play out of position, but te squad looks solid, i mean ive not seen any friendlies so im not judging before ive seen a couple of games, but we should do well even without full backs

I think left back has been the problem ever since we got relegated from the prem 4 or 5 years ago.

Mattock is good going forward but lets himself down defensively.

I was hoping we'd have a left back in. Right back i think we have enough cover, Kish and N'gotty can both play there.

No we aren't but we are leaking goals.Our defence is going to be the problem IMO,especially the Full Backs.Needs to be sorted0 and soon.

he's made some decent signings, including bringing in some fast wingers, big centre backs and a proven Striker.

By all reports the games against Palace and Birmingham were some of our best performances for a long time.

He's not yet won the league, but as far as I can see, he's achieved almost all of what he can so far.
