I assume you read the article, Steven. It said that the variation in the cycle to be expected of the Sun would not offset other changes happening.

Fine but from a simple Physics point of view energy has to be applied to raise the temperature of something. So if the Sun is putting out less energy how is the temperature going to continue to rise?

A more worrying question might be 'What is going to happen to temperatures when the sun stops being so lazy?".

The article is confusing, at one point it says the sun is at the low ebb of the normal 11 year cycle and they expected it to pick up last year, but then it says it is actually at a hight point, in the top 10%
