It is also millions of miles closer to the Sun than the Earth and other than offering an extreme demonstration of the greenhouse effect provides nothing else to the debate on the warming of our planet.

Mercury is closer to the Sun by about the same distance it has pretty much no atmosphere and is about about 40C cooler than Venus. Venus being twice the distance from the Sun than Mercury recieves 1/4 of the energy from the Sun per square metre.

The argument isn't over simplistic, this planet's weather patterns will change significantly in my life time without serious action against climate change.

Too right. Me and my youngest went swimming last night and I thought how much fun it used to be going to the swimming baths (the old ones in Aylestone or St Maggies) now its just a fecking chore avoiding the human hippos trying to look fit or the Mark Spitz wannabees who get the arse if you happen to get in their way. Its hard to have much fun swiming in public baths nowadays. We still arse about much to everyone elses annoyance.
