REPORT:
I have no doubt that Pearson and his backroom staff have been key to Leicester's very good position. Having seen Leeds and Forest flounder in this division for quite some time I was hoping to finish about tenth this season - with a promotion push the following season to build on finishing relatively high in their first season in division one. Infact, as we can all see it's very much looking like we will make it this season.
You do have to attribute a lot to the manager. He has placed motivation, discipline and 'fire-in-the-bellies' of players where there was once the absolute opposite qualities. It is not enough to recruit one or two good players - previous managers did that too - you have to get the best out of them. Pearson's doing it, his recent predecessors didn't.
It absolutely helps to make one or two very good signings and Pearson has done that too.
What I also like about Pearson is that he addresses weaknesses quickly. In the first few games it became apparent that 2 wingers - after initial promise -was turning out to be a luxury we couldn't afford and they placed too much of a burden on Oakely and especially young Andy King. So he brought Berner and then Davies in. Contrast that with Holloway for example where we saw the forward line as weakest and what did he do... kept the only guy who might score (Hume) on the wing until it was too late.
But as I say, the main contrast with other managers and Pearson is not only team selection but discipline and motivation. Well done to all, because the players have responded to the challenges and opportunities to do well.
you don't mention that we have to play awful teams week in week out! I would have expected no less than top 3 by Christmas, not fecking 10th you loser!
Somewhat vitriolic responses.
You're not wrong there. consty. It's sadly typical. Why someone sending a positive post praising the team and management and stating he expects the good run to continue - and promotion to follow - should be criticised by the couple of subsequent replies is to be ****ing expected on here, but there you go.
We took Chelsea, Villa and Fulham all the way, we still ended up in the third division.Tomorrow, even though it is a cup game, will show whether our team is looking good just because all around us are crap!
Not the result, but the performance. Do we still play with confidence and pass it around? Will we still be allowed to play at pace? Will we be given any time on the ball?
Somewhat vitriolic responses.
Me.hands up who would have said top of the League going into 2009.
Somewhat vitriolic responses. Some teams in freefall with a host of problems such as forest and leeds in their first season in division 1 floundered quite badly. Leicester were very much in the same mould - in freefall with a host of problems. You do not have to be a 'loser' to think the same initial campaign in division 1 that these other named teams could well be what LCFC would encounter.
You may have failed to notice that I say I now expect, given the good work of the management and the players, that the team will be promoted. Perhaps you imagined me to say expect a 10 game consecutive losing streak and the club to finish mid-table.
Why someone sending a positive post praising the team and management and stating he expects the good run to continue - and promotion to follow - should be criticised by the couple of subsequent replies is a suprise but there you go.
Consty,
Well said mate & if we are all being honest with ourselves after the shite we had to endure last season then hands up who would have said top of the League going into 2009.My hand in firmly by my side.am I a loser?

I don't think it's any gauge of our ability.

TBH, I thought we'd be fecking shite and outside the play-offs. There was a negative attitude at the club and a bunch of unmotivated players. None of the pre-season signings bar Tunchev had proved themselves at a higher level.
