I think that's being extremely generous.

I've never understood the love for James. He's never impressed me. He's lightweight, awful in front of goal and liable to go down injured at any given moment. He has no pace to get away from players either.

My only optimism is if he's improved by watching and reflecting over the last couple of years. Sometimes that does help a player like him. His only real quality is his passing and vision.

I just can't see him getting near our side ahead of the players we've got now, and I'm hoping that we strengthen that area of the team further this summer.

Sell while he's fit, I say.
So other than the fact that he is lightweight, unimpressive, awful in front of goal and injury prone he is a good 'un, no?

Harry Maguire is very good moving forward with the ball at his feet, and can be effective in the opposition box. He's excellent in the tackle and shows good timing. However, sometimes he's slow to react in defensive situations and has a tendency to indulge in ball-watching rather than checking on the movement of opposition strikers. He looks a bit slow over a few yards, and takes time to get his brain in gear. There were some dreadful moments in the Sunderland game when he looked off the pace and caught napping in the 6 yard box where Hull defenders were easily outnumbering Sunderland players but too easily got caught out. He was captain, but unfortunately showed very few leadership qualities when it mattered. Hopefully he'll sharpen up and improve his game.

I dare say Huth can teach him all he ever need know about that side of the game

All the dark arts he will ever need to know

It's just a year since Huth and Morgan were being forced to come to terms with the new guidance on the required interpretation of certain of the Laws of the Game. I don't think anybody should underestimate the effect that this change had on their game and on our results in the new season. Dark arts are not as useful as they once were.

They just had to get darker so the referee could not spot them so easily.

An exceptionally interesting post. Welcome to the Forum.

However, don't also let your guard down. There are many on here that are not as considered as DG.

Don't be a dick homer, every new fan puts an extra jelly bean in jeff's pocket.
;) Interesting choice of words that at one time I may have used myself.

Wonder what the Dull fans feel about losing Maguire?
Could be the best signing of the Summer and prove to be a snip.Hope we got a sell on clause.
Only issues are he has a major balls up in him and needs good cover for this. Also he is a very big lad and I think teams have deliberately targeted his knees for over zealous tackling.
Sincerley hope he does well for you.

Wow

Stop not being a **** then.
Thanks for the love and hope you enjoy yourselves in the artificial world of the Prem.
We are bracing ourselves for an exciting Old Skool season in the Champ. Not sure how many Chelski loan starlets our Russian manager is allowed to have in one season.Hardly seems fair to the opposition. But it worked for Donald.

I knew it wouldn't last.

I know this is bitterness, but does anyone else sort-of feel this way about the prem as well?
I do. A bit.

I do. A lot. There seems relatively little point in trying to compete against big money - and now we have joined that brigade that can spend big money.

I did think that our winning the big prize a couple of seasons ago at a time when we were not spending such huge amounts might rekindle my desire for the game. It hasn't.
