I am also thinking of dislodging a few moths from the wallet for something similar. ;)

Personally if the TV does not support 1080i then I am not sure it is really HD Ready. ;)

HDMI is available in 3 sizes. (x)?, 720& 1080

My tele is 1080 and I wouldn't reccommend anything less. Today 720 is excellent quality, but tomorrow, who knows?

I went into Richer Sounds on London road and asked for advise. Can't remember his name but go and see the black geezer. He was very helpful and very knowledgable

Good shop, bought my TV and most of my hi-fi stuff from there.

Check their website for prices before you go though. Their web prices are sometimes cheaper but if you mention it when you buy in the shop they'll let you have it at the online price.

A TV that wont display 1080i isnt really HD Leroy. Incidentally the prefered res for Sky HD is 1080i

I hear the Acoustic Solutions 32 inch set Argos are selling is meant to be the busines for the price btw. £399 I think

i went in and there was a black guy and and a white guy. no good to me i'm after a colour telly:icon_lol:

You need Melton Road then not London Road

to be honest i spent a grand on a hd ready tv in the summer and havent seen a hd program yet. i called ntl and asked when they would be bringing out a hd box, they said not that Likley.

its not 1080i then....

1080 vertical pixels on a monitor is better than the picture you'll receive on a 1080i HDTV. The i means interlaced - for 1/25 of a second it displays the 540 odd numbered pixels, then for the next 1/25 second it displays the 540 even numbered pixels. With a monitor you get all 1080 pixels displayed at the same time.

If you want 'proper' HDTV you should get 1080p, but at the moment (in terms of TV pictures) it won't look any better because they're broadcast as 1080i. Stuff like the next generation of DVDs and PS3 should look better on a 1080p screen though.
