I'm not arguing with you.Not all drug addicts ,smokers and alcoholics are horrible despicable people

when did I say they were?

I used to be on 50+ a day, but it was only down to habit and not due to the fact I needed one. I was also into drugs years back and used to take them whilst at work, because everyone did.

All I am saying is massive amouts of money is coming out of the NHS to deal with these people, so they should pay for their treatment. They could take insurance out etc. Money saved could be better used elsewhere.

Excelent, honest post:038:

No,what you are talking is a complete load of bollux and you have absolutely no idea of what you are talking about.I do know what I'm talking about on this, one of the few things I do know about
I think I'm best walking away from this
I don't blame you.

I've tried to explain the complexities involved with mental illnesses to somebody this morning and have come to the conclusion that unless you have first hand experience, you will never understand it.

Just because that was your experience doesn't mean its the same across the board, there might be people who are addicted to drink etc

Exactly, far too many people talking about something they know absolutely nothing about and that IS my last post in this thread

I saw a mate of mine lying in a ditch when I was 16, busted up to high heaven, bleeding from everywhere he could, making the most horrific noises you could imagine. He died before the ambulance got there.

He was knocked down, on the pavement by a drunk driver, who was alcoholic. He drove off.
My sympathy for drunks went out the window that day.

But I acknowledge, not all drunks are the same.

I didnt bring up mentall illness in this thread. People have been comparing other things to what the main debate was, i.e abusing drugs and dying, and why it is so wrong.

Come on guys ,where is the love for gods sake :102: Lets put it all to one side and embrace :056: And remember ....be nice :058:

MG was talking about mental illness, not drunk drivers :102:

I had a mate in the States that abused drugs. He fell out of a window and died while drugged up.I wasnt related to this lad, but it physically upset me, because he was a great lad and could have done so much more with his life.

I like you BG was against drugs in a big way from that day.A total waste.

this was not you bloke who had had a couple at his local before going home. This was an alcoholic who was addicted to drink.
Big difference but no differnce in the outcome. A dead young innocent lad.

i think thats probably true for a few of us (myself included)

Anybody that takes their car out to the pub, intending to drive it back and potentially kill someone,is mental in any bodys books.

WTF are you on about ?

No, they are not mental at all. Most people who do this aren't even what you would class as regular ****s, just make a stupid decision. If only the world was as black and white as you paint it then we would all be so much happier I'm sure.

As for drug users paying for hospital treatment, if I decide to go sledging, and break my arm, should I pay for my treatment? I've made a decision to put my body in a position that could be potentially harmful, and have ended up hurt. So by your reconing I should pay up?

No offence, Biff, but you strike me as the type of person who thinks people who are clinically depessed should just "shake themselves out of it", or those suffering from anxiety or phobias should "Just get a life and stop being so bloody silly"

I might be wrong about that, and if so I humbly apologise

I must withdraw from this argument, now, as it's starting to annoy me - and that's not what this place is all about

Here Homer pick the bones out of this...........

Just like the bad foods we discussed above, drinking too much alcohol can make us feel depressed and tired. And it can react badly with medicines. So it’s sensible to treat it with caution.
A couple of drinks with friends can be a positive part of life, but continued overconsumption of alcohol will not be a positive experience.
Recommended daily intake...
It is recommended that women drink 3 units of alcohol at the most and men drink 4 units or less each day. One unit is:

half a pint of beer or lager
1 small glass of wine
1 single measure of vodka/gin/whisky/brandy etc
If you are worried that you are drinking too much, it might be a good idea to keep a diary of how much you drink. Then you can try to cut down and monitor your progress. Download an example of a diary (26 kb)
