The site you were linking to has protected them to stop people using their bandwidth. Sometimes this shows a message like the one in the first post, sometimes it's just blank. But people who post them often don't realise it's happening because their browser shows them a cached version.

If they don't work by linking to them you could add them as an attachment instead.

I figured they were blocking hotlinks or whatever they are called, but it showed me the fortunecity image so went away to download it for an attachment and did so, and once I'd done that it showed me the original again, so I deleted my post, then back to fortune city. Just a caching abnormality I guess.
