I'm way too catious about everything. I've now realised that if we were to carry on renting we would be paying about exactly the same a month so there is no reason not to do it.

I think when you rent for a while you become scared of owning your own place - when you're renting it just gets sorted by the landlord with no cost to us. However the house is only 15 years old and had a brand new boiler system 5 months ago.
