Well, I thought both Faes and Vestegaard did very well today. Machonwas decent at times but he really is either sublime or complete garbage and we saw both in patches today. KDH needed to be more involved but he played some neat passes and linked up play quite well. The game changed completely when Vardy came on. They couldn't handle his pace or the runs he was making and it pushed them right back. Another win, another 3 points.

Oh, and Praet was sensationally shit. I told you he wouldn't have another decent 15 minutes for a while.

I'm happy with the win, of course.
I suppose it's modern football - but watching Vestergaaa- yawn - aaaaaaaaaard put his foot on the ball and looking around like a Johnny Evans clone in his dotage to see who he could pass it sideways to - time and time again -
- does my head in.

Anyone else impressed with Mavididi's defensive work?
I wasn’t last week. I was watching him quite closely and he didn’t track his man a few times, albeit it didn’t cost us. I didn’t watch today’s game so can’t comment on that.

Last week he did **** all defensively. Nothing

Today he did a fair bit more, so I assume someone gave him a good kick up the jacksie

Really? I mentioned this in the match thread as it happened a lot but I blame the ****ers in front for presenting no options...

No. You’re wrong. Everything is Vestegaard’s fault. He should have spotted those non-existent runs.

Vestergaard was fine. He did a fair bit of talking/organising too. Actually was nice to see a lot more talking on the pitch feels like we've been missing that for a few seasons. Winks, Ricardo, Vardy also all organising at various points.

The one I was concerned about was Doyle. He settled in to the match eventually but first 20 mins or so looked very uncomfortable.

I really hope they don't continue with this heart attack football. Lost count (after about 100) how many times we gave the ball away. First half was atrocious to watch and I came close to throwing something at the Tv in frustration to hospital ball passes.
Marcal was given 2 decent opportunities to score and stuffed up, Praet had the best chance and shows he ain't got the skills needed.
Second was marginally better as far as not giving the ball away, mind KDH seems to think he's the only one allowed to score.
Overall a crap non impressive performance, but we get the points, equal top, so it makes my complaints a bit pointless.
I just hope we get in a few decent players and some who are starting become bench players only.

To be honest, I thought it was pretty ****ing woeful. I don't want to be negative but that first half! We haven't played a decent side yet, so I'm not getting carried away. 74 year Warnock and a team that scraped into the division nearly outdid us. Imagine if when we were looking for a new manager someone said Warnock. Well you just wouldn't.
No more staying up late or getting up a stupid O'clock to watch this. I'm recording it, and hitting the >> button!

I think Cov will be up there at the end of the season.
Also, there is a lot of shit sides in this league. If we beat them, we'll be in the mix at the end of the season.

Pretty sure you’d class Cov as one of the better sides in this division.

I was getting Vietnam veteran style flashbacks every time their striker Danny Ward got the ball.

He was also complete shit and posed less of a threat to our goal than our own Danny Ward would have.

Not sure what some are expecting.
New manager
New players
New way of playing
All takes time to gel.

Obviously , 3 out of 3 isn’t enough for some people.

As for Vesti strolling with the ball, if the opposition don’t challenge , why rush the pass.
The idea with Vestergaard is to draw the man in and then make the pass into midfield. Hence him holding onto ball for long periods. Huddersfield were reluctant to do this as they were man marking our midfield.

It’s going to take more than a month to play this new system with fluidity. Patience.

I was pretty much sat pitch side for the first game and you could see that in possession Vestergaard was very comfortable. When you are playing out from the back you need your CB to be able to pass it out. I am guessing the manager hasn’t seen this same quality in Souttar, and is prepared to accept Vestergaard‘s weaknesses when we don’t have possession because it better suits our system.

I’m also pretty sure that Vestergaard is backup and Enzo would much prefer to be playing Conor Coady. He was brought in to lead the back line/team. It’s just a shame he was injured pre season.

Anyway. **** all point moaning. We know that we haven’t put all of the puzzle pieces together yet. We are 3/4 players short of what we need. With that in mind we are doing pretty well. I don’t mind if we grind out 2nd place. I’d take it.

Cov was always likely to be a challenge but Huddersfield and Cardiff are both great fixtures to have while we find our feet.

86 points is the average I believe to attain automatic promotion to the PL.

Eighty more required, that is all.

We have about 7% of the points in the bag right now.
