Agreed The supply teacher reference is entirely based on personal experience. I went to school in the 60s & 70s...the cane was still a well & reasonably often used implement. Supply teachers in those days were often the younger,slightly hippy "progressive" type. Far less likely to resort to sending you to the Deputy Head for a good hammering. Therefore, in the rough arsed council estate comp I went to they were a golden opportunity to **** about. I tend to think of the relationship between CS & the players like that. Rightly or wrongly, thats the impression I get. Pro footballers tend to be a lot like children to me so the comparison works for me.I agree with almost all of this but I think you are being a bit harsh on supply teachers.
The concept of supply teachers , nurses, firemen, whatever, is normally fuelled by incredibly bad management added to funding issues, which means staffing levels and morale is usually stretched and rock bottom.
Its very difficult to be a supply worker in such team situations. While LCFC cannot claim funding issues, CS, was and is a member of a poor management structure who was promoted within it.
