It seems that Vardy was taken off due to a groin problem.

It seems to me that the attitude is that "we won the league with this team and style so we'll keep doing it"

The problem seems to be ignorance.

We had a midfielder that could single handedly boss the midfield. We don't any more.

We had a winger in world class form who has since lost his mojo.

We had an experienced defence, now they are aging.

We were fortunate with injuries and the lack of depth in the squad wasn't exposed. Now we are picking up our share of injuries.

Opponents struggled to counter our style, now teams know how to shut us down.

It is time for the club to adapt, but we have a manager who got the job precisely because he won't change anything.

It's all very frustrating.

Where I am on this.....I don't like it but I do fear and suspect that BN and co are going to be right in the long term.

But I'm glad we gave him the job, so few home grown managers get a chance after all. And I hope to goodness we don't panic and at least give him a chance to learn. As a club, to change our manager so soon would suggest we had huge delusions of grandeur.

But the lack of fresh tactics and the odd nature of our signings not having an impact, and never being fully fit, is incredibly frustrating.

It's not a clubs job to facilitate a managers learning.

How would it suggest that?

I'm gutted that we squandered our chance to be something special and different for more than one season and a Chamions League campaign (not CS's fault)

It may not be Shakespeare's fault. But his support of the people whose fault it was is sickening at the very least.

I wouldn't have been too upset of all of the jokers from last season moved on.

The opposite of that has happened.

We've given the job of manager to the players best mate and we've dished out nice big contracts.

We now have the same players who gave absolutely everything they had 2 seasons ago, giving nowhere near enough now.

So we now use the benchmark of 'that season' to do comparable?

We had a one off, probably never to be repeated.

We are a yoyo club historically that has now been in the premier league for 4 fantastic seasons having not only managed to survive but given the most incredible journey along the way.

Our target should be top 6 because I believe you should always aim for the unattainable. In reality we should all be pleased with 8-12th. Anything above that and it should be seen as a bonus.

Shakespeare has done what was asked of him - last season he kept us up (easily) and this season so far we have done okish.

Jesus, give the guy another 14 games and then look again unless we are nosediving.

At the halfway stage a return of 25 points would be good and suggest a 50+ point finish which would be more than acceptable.

If we are way off this then we may be forced into a decision but come on, give the guy some time ffs.

Or Shakey could have said - 'They are a smashing bunch of lads that can win anything, I do not need any new players'.

So why move on the Beast of Big Was, excellent back-up CB? Why bring in two new CBs one of whom is now first choice starter?

I say give Shakey a chance when his 'upgraded' squad is all fit and ready for selection.

If in 2 months time he is still picking James and King instead of Iborra and Silva, then show him the door.

Lets be clear here. None of us "negative" types are remotely interested in being able to say "I told you so" At least I'm not. I imagine BN isn't either. What we are is angry at the ineptitude that's been shown since the dust settled on probably the greatest achievement in modern football.

What other club could go from champions of England to taking a hopeful punt on an untried manager in less time then it takes for a cheese sarny to go off?

What other club could reward the man who masterminded the transfer policy that saw us sign vital players for a pittance with "well thanks but cheerio" ?

We love our club. Passionately. In my case for well over 40 years, most of it suffering dismal underachievement. We all had the season of our lives...& now we get to watch it all vanish to such an extent that in 3 years it won't even seem like it happened at all? Bollocks!

We could...& SHOULD have taken the vast rewards of the title win & CL season & turned ourselves into the regularly-challenging-for-Europe team we really should always have been.

Instead we end up back amongst the no-marks. Reverting to type.

It's got **** all to do with being negative & **** all to do with wanting to say "see...told you"

It's not negative to piont out failings. It's negative to ignore them ,cross your fingers & hope things work out.

CS will fail. Not because I say so. Because he's 53 years old & never been a manager. Never shown any desire to be one. Doesn't have a clue what to do.

He has no tactical skill beyond his first choice arrangements, can't change a game effectively from the bench, can't be adventurous when needed. Plus the players know they can get away with any old shit while he's in charge.

Basically he's a supply teacher.

But he got offered the full time post, presumably for a very nice pay increase & he took it. Fair enough...so would I!

He'll leave here & get a coaching job at somewhere like Ipswich or Hull.

I just hope it's sooner rather than later so we might have a chance of repairing the damage. Although I'm not hopeful of that either as the list of replacements will likely be ****ing terrible. Which is another symptom of the ludicruous way the club has handled things.

I agree with almost all of this but I think you are being a bit harsh on supply teachers.
The concept of supply teachers , nurses, firemen, whatever, is normally fuelled by incredibly bad management added to funding issues, which means staffing levels and morale is usually stretched and rock bottom.
Its very difficult to be a supply worker in such team situations. While LCFC cannot claim funding issues, CS, was and is a member of a poor management structure who was promoted within it.

I think the bumper contracts handed out should allow us to expect ambitions higher than just staying up. That said, id be content with seeing this season out with 40 and let the rebuild happen in the summer. We'll possibly be losing the likes of Mahrez, Vardy, Morgan etc that summer so seems a more ideal time to attract a manager than this one.

Don't disagree with any of that Fitz but our current 'bumper pay' players would probably be on an equivalent or better salary elsewhere and what we are now paying on average is, I suspect 'the going rate'.

Since when has £100,ooo/week been the 'going rate' for an average/just above average, premier league player?

I think we have the 7th highest wage bill. That should set expectations.

I'd compare our start to Burnley's. Squad not nearly as talented or expensive but always look like they might nick something from a game. Win at Chelsea, a draw at Liverpool.

With our wages, caliber of player, and previous success....we should expect better.

We will, at very best, finish around 11th. It's not enough.

So why move on the Beast of Big Was, excellent back-up CB?

I thought I read on here that Wasilewski had become a disaster looking for somewhere to happen last season; that he always looked likely to go into the referee's book. He was only used once as a back-up last season and was sorely exposed in that game. Fuchs (not a centre-back) and Benaloune (ffs!) were preferred to him over the whole of the season.

Why bring in two new CBs one of whom is now first choice starter?

But I guess that people are asking themselves if he would have found himself in this position if Huth was fit. In fact we don't yet know whether he can be regarded as first-choice. You and I might want it to be so but CS (or Vardy, or Morgan, or perhaps Huth himself) is the one who will make the decision.

I'm all for giving him the chance but he's got to take it soon.

Four points from five games (and some of the performances in those games) suggests that a 40-point finish will not be that easy to achieve.

Sorry I stopped reading at the bit about Was being an excellent back up CB.

Far too early to write off Shaky yet, we have had a difficult start and we have been limited in our options given the "injury" to Drinkwater, Iborra picking up a knock in the lead up to the season opener, Silva's enforced absence and also the frustrating knock picked up by Ian Nacho which has severely limited his availability. Whilst we have hardly set the world alight, we haven't been disgraced despite a very tricky run of fixtures, I am sure West Brom didn't expect to take a beating at Brighton and look at Watford destroyed at home by Man City.

The next 6 fixtures will provide a better barometer of where we sit and the type of season we have ahead. I think the true measure of Shakey will be how and when he introduces the likes of Dragovic, Iborra and Silva into the side and what changes in shape, formation and style of play he is prepared to make. If in 3 months time these 3 are on the bench and we are continuing to play such a rigid 4-4-2 with all the usual suspects still filling the starting XI then I am sure he will fall on his sword, if he is brave then I see an opportunity to push on and build a bright new future. We have to move on and develop we cannot live in the past and continue to try and replicate a style and system that no longer works for us.
