I've just run into Fludie in Sheffield. He's half-pissed already, carrying three tins of Strongbow and a Burger King bag. My day might be on its way downhill.

I find it interesting that Sven says we are the quietest team he's managed, and that the poor defending is down to poor communication. Our back five against Ipswich was Kirkland, Cunningham, Vitor, Davies and Naughton. None of these players are 'City' players they are all loanees - you can't have a successful team based on a defence made up of temporary players. Last season I really thought we punched above our weight, and we were able to do so because our back line was solid and coherent. Berner and Hobbs were outstanding, and Morrison looked useful. Weale, although very dodgy, had his moments. They may not have been the best but they worked together well, and allowed the team to soak up pressure. I think as far as the defence goes loanees are a bad idea, one player at most. As for up front, we have a team of support strikers. Waghorn, Gallagher, Vassell, Howard, Dyer - they are all secondary strikers. The only poacher/finisher we had was Fryatt. We are relying on a young midfielder to both captain the team and score our goals, when his goals should be a bonus not a neccessity.

Spot on! And when the loan players bugger off we're back to square 1. All it does is upset contracted players eg Fryatt and Berner

We had loan players last season and Berner still had a great season. Fryatt was his usual crap with or without loan players.
