I'm about to buy a new I-pod as my old one has bitten the dust.

Do I need to register it with my computer etc or can I just plug it in to my computer and it will automatically transfer the songs already in my I-tunes on to it.

Cheers

My advice - Buy an mp3 player from a non corrupt organisation that allows you to do what you choose with any music you may purchase.

when you plug it in you have to install some ipod software before you can transfer songs etc-its available to download of the internet so shouldn't be a problem.

When you first connect it to your computer you will have to name it etc and then it should ask you if you want to sync it with that computer so that it automatically updates itself when you connect it to that computer.

As far as I remember it is a pretty simple process. :023:

So basically I have to go through the same process as I did with my original as regards setting it up etc.

I can't just connect the wire and be done with it?

I should think that you will have to go through the process again as it is a brand new iPod. I may be wrong though. :102:

I wonder if I will have the same problem with my new cassette tape player........?

You won't have to install anything new if you;ve already got itunes (unless it's massively out of date).

All that it'll do is go through the wizard to associate the iPod with your iTunes/PC. it'll take a few seconds + however long to put your music onto it.

You can register 5 PC's to one itunes account but Im not sure about registering more than one ipod to an account and how it tracks this. I seem to remember people habing problems but Im not sure and Ive done it myself!!

My brother had to use his iTunes on his cpu account (different from mine) for it work correctly. You simply put the iPod in and then the wizard installs any new software and gets the iPod ready. Then it adds all the music on which takes it's time. Be warned if you have an old iTunes, you will need a new one because the iPod simply won't respond to it an oldie.

Don't get an ipod. Get the 60GB Zen from amazon for £150.

Having owned both a Zen and an iPod, I agree with this, much more reliable and doesn't start to **** up after you put a certain amount of music on your iPod. In fact, I've heard many people with problems with their iPod, but never heard any problems with a Zen

I have had an iPod for 3 years now and have had no problems with it as yet. ;)

Also, one of my old housemates went through two Zens whilst I was living with him! :icon_lol:

i'm super annoyed at my ipod, cos i had to change computers

it fcuking hides the files and gives them random names... then if you actually find the ones you want to delete, it leaves them on hte menu

:098:

thinking a zen is next up...
