Not that one should trust WikiPedia, but in this case I trust them more than the Beeb. Wiki's number for 75/76 is 22,049 (home attendance that is)

Not that one should trust WikiPedia, but in this case I trust them more than the Beeb. Wiki's number for 75/76 is 22,049 (home attendance that is)

Even though it must have been the time they put seating on the Popular Side, capacity would still have been at least 35000. Wiki also record the lowest gate of the season as the Boxing Day game against reigning champions Derby, and even more incredibly we won with a Bob Lee brace in a run where he scored 9 in ten games - that doesn't sound right at all.

I suspect there is something very wrong with their calculations of average attendance. I tried changing year of birth a few times and it seemed wrong whatever year I chose. (Except if you're born in 2014)

On the opposite side of the coin, what is City's highest home crowd? If my memory serves me correctly its about 44,000 in the early fifties I can't remember who we were playing could have been Stoke in the FA Cup,but I could be wrong. Very little seating back then, the Kop end and the main stand, the rest was standing, or in this case crushing.
