Except that I would think that Ponting himself might well retire if he lost the captaincy - leaving them weaker still. This would free him up to end his career free to play in whatever T20 leagues he wanted.

I agree that Australia will come back strong as they always do....but I seee this taking some time and leaving them vulnerable to a fairly ordinary England next summer.
