I think they often do surveys like this by phone, picking the numbers at random, so there shouldn't be any geographical bias.
actually with the number of manure fans its probably done on portsmouth docks.

to get a true reading you would have to include the following

1/ die hard season ticket holders 4+ yrs
2/ 1-2 season ticket holders
3/ boxes and corporate suits (number of ppl per box/suit)
4/ new season ticket holders (per yr)
5/ the average match tickets sales (per match/per season)
6/ club members (including over sea foxes)
7/ junior members (we have the biggest in the country )

and that should give you the fan base maybe the foxes trust mite shed more light on this than us

You can still be a fan and not qualify in any of the above brackets

There are far more people who say they support Leicester but never go to any games, than people who do go to games. It's the same with every club.

Some of them may listen to the match on the radio or online, or watch TV to get the score during the match.
But a greater number won't even do that, they may not even be aware there'a a match on. But if someone asks them in a survey who they support, they'll say Leicester.

i never said you could'nt melton m8 (yes got your name right :icon_bigg ) but to get a true stats reading you need base lines to work with

we could all say we suporut this team or that the way i posted them up would be a very clear way of knowing your fan base plus taking in to account just being a fan you would never get an end fig ........:icon_wink

i think thera are 2 main brackets. Fans & Supporters.

Fans are people that like Leicester City.

Supporters are people that actively support their club in whatever shape or form they can, even if just buying an official club shirt can be classed as supporting the club.

A supporter will always be a fan, but a fan isn't always a supporter

trust him to come up with somthing new .................... not :icon_bigg :icon_bigg ;)

Be fair to him, its relatively original, i said they were probably cack, Thracian has decided every word is gospel!!!

Its bollocks really presented, it could be who follows up. For example, 'your first team MAN U, your second team? Leicester.'

On a forum, I use someone gets all the attendance figures divides them by the stadium size and works how much percent that the Walkers Stadium is full by this season, then I will add the away followings and the amount of tickets left. And that should give you a fairly accurate view of how well the fan-base is.

Though that gives no relation to the percentage of people in the country that support a team, just because a team builds its stadium too large or sets its ticket prices too high, does not give it a low fan base.

They only asked 5,000 people, must have been the University of Leicester people out and about on matchday.

We still didn't win!

comments posted below Thracian's article:

"553,000 does that mean how many fans went this/last season?"

" Very close. Leicester amassed 498891 fans in their 23 League matches last season at an average of 21,691 (or 66.7% of capacity). With Cup attendances of 47,657 that makes 546548 by my reckoning and there may have been other matches like the FA Youth Cup, Wsterby Cup final etc"

And presumably Man U's 4 million includes the number who say they've been to Old Trafford when they haven't really :icon_roll

The sad truth is that I've been to Old Trafford more times than most people who claim to be Manchester United fans.

It'd be too far for most of them to travel :icon_lol:
