As Leicester fans we can see it's much more complex than that.
Not only it is 'only' against San Marino, but Vardy's main talents are not against teams that will form up behind the ball. He's a counter-attacking pest of a striker, who works better when the opposition are playing a high line. I cannot see San Marino's defenders being caught as high up as, for example, WBA's defenders when he nicked the ball there and pelted to the other end to win the game.

Hodgson is playing Vardy, but certainly not to his strengths. Do we think this is a "look at me, I'm playing non-top four players" rather than him actually thinking Vardy can have an impact?

Not a bad diagnosis. He's been stuck out on the left wing and made a couple of decent runs but he's hardly getting the space to show what he can do.
