As the Skids once said (and I'm talking about Highland Fox's underwear)

My pre-arranged Saturday night out in the capital has now fallen through (not followed through, like HF - see above) so I now have to travel to Charlton on me Bob Todd this weekend, and need your help

1. Wots the parking like near the ground ?
2. Is it better to park up somewhere else and get the tube ?
3. Is it better to get the train and then the tube ?

Thank you

And no, I'm not going with Fox Travel 'cos I don't want to spend eight hours sat next to Bernie

Option three as that allows for drinking. I never had problems travelling to and from London to Leicester on a Saturday (I have on a Sunday :smt013 ) and then train from London Bridge/Charing X is a simple ride to Charlton and then one min to the ground. ;-)

I've always found it easier by train, there's a station close to the ground.

I need to drive on Saturday because I have to get back early, so I'm also looking for a good place to park that's easy to get out of after the match. So if anyone does know of and decent parking places please let us know.

If I were you Homer I would get the train and tube as Notts and me are doing. Driving is a nightmare as is parking, Sit back and have a few beers - probably miss the game but never mind

So you want help of person on here because you are on your own on Saturday and you'd need somewhere to park up?

I am sure there is a sexual reference in here  (after all Highland wrote it  :P :P :D  ;-) ) but I am just not quite sure where. :-? :-?

Highland once got a sexual reference from Mrs Highland

It said "Pathetic"

If you want the cheapest train ticket to London (£19 return) you need to book 7 days in advance.
But as you've missed that your next best option is a London Weekend ticket. You have to reserve a seat on the train to London (and you have to use that train or you'll have to pay the full fare), and you can get any train on your return, which is useful if you don't know how long you'll be in the pub after the match. This costs £23, or £27 for first class. You must buy this ticket three days in advance.
If you can get an advance purchase ticket to London, then a travelcard to cover the tube/train to Charlton, it's cheaper than getting a ticket directly to Charlton.

I was merely make a fellow members plea for help clear...some people's minds Steven.

I come on here for help and only get half a story - what are the train times, Webbo, for god's sake ?

Must admit that the 27 quid first class ticket sounds very nice

Drinking is not an option, as I've got to drive to and from the train station anyway

Four trains an hour to London. The fast trains are mostly at 0 and 30 minutes past the hour.

First class at weekends just gets you a bigger seat, none of the extra freebies and at seat service you get during the week.

Why don't they have public transport in Coalville yet ?

The railway line that goes behind the kop at the Walkers Stadium goes to Coalville, so it would be ideal for Homer if they ever reopen it to passengers (something that's been talked about for years but they won't spend the money). If it does reopen I'm sure it would make sense to build a station at the ground.

I'm not spending an hour getting into Leicester on some crappy bus, and then waiting for three hours for same crappy bus when I get home

That "bigger seat" option still sounds right up my street....

Plus I eliminate the risk of sitting anywhere near Durham, 'cos there's no way he will shell out another four notes

Cheeky Fecker. I dont know where Webbos getting his prices from, My ticket in 'coach' cost £40.

Certainly would, then all those Rugby fans and concert goers won't have far to walk. Then when they open that big Ikea in the Car Park you can get your furniture back home easily.
