£40 sounds a bit steep DF ? Perhaps Homer will let you sit with him in his 'big chair',while he waves at the 'poor people' in Standard Class.

Cheeky Fecker. I dont know where Webbos getting his prices from, My ticket in 'coach' cost £40.

What kind of ticket is it?

Its an open one as there are no cheap tickets left on trains that get you there before 14:42.

If you can get an advance purchase ticket to London, then a travelcard to cover the tube/train to Charlton, it's cheaper than getting a ticket directly to Charlton.

A Saver ticket to Charlton costs £40. This doesn't have to be booked in advance. You could have done the same journey for around £23 by getting a £19 ticket to London and buying a trravel card when you get there.

If you ask for a ticket to Charlton, the cheapest ticket still available (which will get you there by 1:30), costs £33.

But if you get a ticket to London St Pancras, and pay for the rest of your journey when you get there, you can still do the first part of the journey for £23 in standard class or £27 in first. The 0900 train has £23 tickets available, and the 0935 and 1004 trains have £27 tickets. Go to http://www.thetrainline.com to buy.

No doubt you've plenty of money Durham, mind you've shelled out 40 notes for the basics and Homer coughs up 27 for 'The Works'..where's the justice in that? He takes up 2 seats as well.

To be honest it was out of my hands. I sorted the match tickets and Nottingham got the task of arranging the travel (assuming they would cost roughly the same) Looks like I got the better end of the deal! 8)

If you don't manage to get an advance ticket, you can still get there for less than the £40 other suckers have paid.

You can get a Leicester to Bedford ticket for £19.80, and a Bedford to Charlton ticket for £15.50 - total £35.30.

You don't need to buy these tickets in advance, you can get them from Leicester Station on Saturday morning. There's no time restriction to these tickets, but you have to get a train that stops at Bedford, which rules out the fast ones.

You don't have to get off, you can stay on the same train.

You're changing tickets, not trains.

It might mean your journey takes a few minutes longer than getting the fast train, and your choice of trains isn't as good, but a lot of people would do that to save a fiver.

A fiver is a fiver and you know those London Pie Prices.Mind getting changed on a train is a bit of a nuisance, what do you do with the spare set of clothing.

All booked, you'll be glad to hear

Twenty seven notes. Bargain

Thank you for your kind assistance
