I've always found it easier by train, there's a station close to the ground.

I need to drive on Saturday because I have to get back early, so I'm also looking for a good place to park that's easy to get out of after the match. So if anyone does know of and decent parking places please let us know.

How To Get There By Car And Where To Park
Leave the M25 at Junction 2 and follow the A2 towards London. When the A2 becomes the A102(M), take the A206 towards Woolwich and you will come to the ground on your right. If you cross over the Thames or reach Blackheath, then you have gone too far.
Street parking, but due to a local residents parking scheme, not in close vicinity to the ground or Charlton railway station. However as you come off the A2 onto the A206, there is some street parking to be had on your right, in a couple of streets, before you reach the Rose of Denmark pub. Colan Hyde informs me that you can also park at the Thames Barrier visitor centre (cost ?5). Colin Gilham adds; 'There is some street parking to be had around the industrial estates in the area, in Westmoor Street, Eastmoor Street (the very road where the club was apparently formed 100 years ago!), Warspite Road and Ruston Road. If you are coming up the Woolwich Road from the the Blackwall Tunnel, then as you go past the ground, the industrial estates are on the left hand side.

hope that helps ... :-D

I always use that site to plan trips to away grounds, but what I'm really looking for is 'secret' inside info on where to park. Anywhere that's mentioned on site like that will be quick to fill up.

Good parking tips. :smt023 Not sure about using the M25. My advice is always end of the M1, A10, M11 or A1 to the North Circular and then head for the Blackwall Tunnel. ;-)

Webbo - My experiences of The Valley are that you cant park within a reasonable distance unless you pay. All the street parking is tied up by this new residence pass only shceme they are rolling out all over the place.

The Westminster Ind Est do parking for £5 (or they have done in the past) Its not far from the ground on Warspite Road, right next to the Million Hare pub. I havent ever found parking for less than £5 in around the London grounds.
