Is a top four finish achievable or a pipe dream?

If you look at the fixtures our season really hinges on the next six games, possibly seven....

FA cup - Brentford
League Cup - Villa
Prem - Chelsea, Wolves, Man City, Norwich
Possible League Cup final

You're right that it could possibly be seven - but not quite right about what the seven might be. If we get to the League Cup final, we won't be playing Norwich on 28th Feb - so that's only six. But in the mid-week after the Norwich/possible League Cup final, we have the possible FA Cup 5th round, taking it back up to seven.

Pedantically yours,
Boc

Or it could be somewhere in between.
Reminds me of the horny old survey about whether men preferred women with fat legs or women with thin legs.

Was the general consensus somethign like ''don't mind really so long as there's a void in the middle?''

Could be enormous or we could balls it up big time. Huge couple of months.
Weirdly I fear wolves the most out of that lot. They are really quite good.

Amazing to think that either Man Utd, Wolves, or Spurs would now need to win 5 more than us out of the remaining 14 games to overtake us, but only need to win 2 more (+ possible draw depending on GD) than Chelsea to go above them for a 4th spot.
so 14 x3 =42 - 14 (current gap to 5th) = 28 divided by 3 (points per game available) = 9.3 games so round down to 9 games to win to guarantee top 4 status.

so essentially it is 42 - 14(-28/3) right I am off to apply for countdown or re-enrollment for primary school I am pretty sure it is the latter bottom line beat Chelsea and Man City and we need to win 5 more games err wait **** it this will be one hell of ride but we should achieve Champs league.

No chance any side 5th or below will get 60 points now. I seriously doubt whether any will get 55.

Finishing 2nd, 3rd or 4th is relatively meaningless. Only a catastrophic collapse can stop us making the Champions League now.

Counter-intuitive as it may seem, our league matches are now our lowest priority. The hard work is already done and the chasing pack are awful.

The Villa game is critical. The FA Cup important if we can get through tomorrow without our best players.

The pressure is not on us in the Chelsea and Wolves games, as well as most that follow. We should just enjoy the ride.

Isn't there more money on offer for a higher league position?, if so I'd hardly call 2nd 3rd or 4th meaningless.

It was £1.9M per place last season.

Just for the purposes of information...I've chucked a fiver on the Saints to nick 4th. Betfair (Sportsbook not exchange) gave me 325/1. They are flying & have to make up 9 points on Chelsea. I've a feeling Chelsea's kids will fall backwards a little bit as the season gets to the business end & I don't trust Lampard to find a solution. Of the teams in between only Wolves are consistent. It's a long shot certainly but not that ****ing long to my mind! Especially when you look at the Saints fixtures between here & the end of the season.

A fiver I won't miss against a chance of over £1600 come May? Has to be a punt.

If it comes off it'll pay for CL tickets.

Cue saints going on a massive losing run now obviously. But I'm happy with the risk/reward ratio.

Anyone care to join the fun?
