They're both massive well-known brands and as businesses I'm sure they far exceed what Topps Tiles turn over in a year. They will be able to afford to match what Topps Tiles are paying us - whether they want to or not is another matter.

so is Milan supposed to take a more reputable company (in your eyes) for less money to keep fans happy? I suppose it would make great business sense

I personally won't buy a shirt with that ugly Topps Tiles logo on the front, I think it looks cheap and nasty, I've got no interest in wearing something that looks shit just because it's got a city badge stamped on the front.

I'm really not following your logic lad, the Walkers and the A&L logo are just as shitty as Topps'.

Read my post mate, I didn't say anything like that. I just hope we can get a decent, different sponsor next season. Topps Tiles are a small time company compared to our past sponsors - I don't want a shirt that looks like it should be worn by a budget non-league team.

you said it would be better to get rid of topps tiles as a sponsor.....though I imagine they were the highest bidder, what do you really mean we should do?

I didn't say it would be 'better' to get rid of them. I was saying that I hope when the time comes to get a new sponsor that we can get someone else who will still benefit the club because, for purely aesthetic reasons, I don't like Topps Tiles as a sponsor.

Plus, for a club with our supposed ambition, Topps Tiles screams small-time to me.

That was just an offhand comment about saying I'd rather get rid of Topps than Jako - I'm ever so sorry I didn't take the fiscal implications of that obviously inflammatory comment into account, I didn't think I'd be drawn into a long-winded explanation of why I said it!

But seriously though, who gives a flying f*ck who the shirt sponsor is? It makes absolutely no difference whatsoever.
There really is no kudos attached to the company logo printed on the front of the players jersey.

Why should it 'scream small-time'?
Topps tiles are a huge, well respected company, listed on the stock exchange and in the FTSE 250.

When Topps Tiles became a Citey sponsor and on our shirts I couldn't believe it.
Now I think it is a bit of a cult image and seeing the Topps Mascot confirmed it.
It is a bit like a David Lynch type of thing - so mad and cheap it now has a cult following

Are you sure you've spelt that correctly?

I obviously give a f*ck what sponsor appears on our shirts - it's played the largest part in me not buying a shirt. I don't like the logo on the shirt, it looks f*cking awful and I'd like a new one - that's all I wanted to say!

To me, Topps Tiles are small time, but that's just my opinion. If they didn't sponsor Leicester I wouldn't have a clue who they were.

Would be better if we got rid of Topps bloody Tiles - get Alliance & Leicester or Walkers back!

A & L would be Santander, who have just announced cutting nearly 2,000 jobs in the UK, many of which are expected at their Narborough HQ.

Slashing costs & then throwing more money at a football club, may not go down well locally....

Also, why would a Spanish company sponsor City ?

or a US one, now Pepsi own Walkers, which they didn't when initial sponsoring

How about Pukka Pies, a local company with owners ex City shareholders, does that appeal more than Topps?

why would a Spanish company sponsor City ?

Why not?

If they're trying to raise their profile in the UK (which they obviously are judging by the amount of TV advertising they're currently doing), sponsoring a football team might be a good way to do it. But sponsoring us would only give them limited exposure, a Premiership club would be more attractive to them. So maybe we'll have to wait 18 months...

Why not?

If they're trying to raise their profile in the UK.

I think that has been raised quite well by the $3bn they may be about to lose. They have no need to lose any more by sponsoring City, besides, it looks as though motorsport is more their style.

I won't buy a shirt with any sponsorship on it. If companies want me to advertise they should pay me, not expect me to pay them.
