Stewart became Adrian Boothroyd's signing for Watford, joining for £125,000 in July 2005. He started as Watford's first-choice left-back, but was dropped in October after a run of poor form. He retook the position from James Chambers in January, and started every game until he was dropped for the game against Wolves on 14 April after another run of poor form. However, he returned to the side as they went onto to win the Championship play-offs, playing all three games. He was the only player in Watford's squad to appear in every single match 16 in 2005-06.

I'd be happy with this signing. Admittedly I don't know a great deal about him but he was obviously good enough to get promotion from the Championship two years in a row. Chambers and Ka'abi on the right side would make me very happy. We would then need two left-sided players.
