Ive not seen him mentioned for some time now and the forum has been distinctly lacking as a result.

Goalkeeper- I think we should spend just under 500k on an assured and decent goalie. Hendo's contract is up in the summer? I think although he is playing ok, it maybe time to get rid of him and Martin is off as well.

Right Back- Gilbert is good and my first choice, but we lack in that department. Hopefully get someone in on the cheap.

Right Winger- We could do with someone who is consistent, experienced and can put a cross in.

Centre Midfielder- A dog-fighter who is willing to put the tackles in and willing to break a sweat. (We may already have this in Kishishev but i've rarely seen him, when I have I've thought he looked ok?!)

Goalkeeper - I think we will struggle to get a decent goalie for under 500K I'm afraid.

RB - Edworthy is capable enough cover in this division IMO.

RW - Perhaps, although would probably mean loaning Gradel or Adams out because we don't need 3 RW's.

CM - Yup, that's what we need to be assured of promotion, someone who isn't afraid to get stuck in. Not particularly these players, but someone who plays like Savage/Kavanagh.

either way - we can't lose fryatt. he's far and away our best player currently.

a simple fact remains though.

that we don't have enough quality in reserve either up front or in centre midfield to survive a full season.

players like edworthy, powell and berner have been excellent business to cover at full back/holding midfield, however, if mandaric doesn't find a way to help pearson bring in cover in midfield and upfront we'll be potentially found out in feb, march, april.

starting a game with a midfield like gradel adams berner porter and dickov campbell up front could be a reality if we suffer the sorts of injuries that happen during a long season to the likes of fryatt, oakley, king, dyer. and i don't think that would fill anyone with confidence that we are championship material....

He is certainly good enough for this division and the championship. Why pay £1 million + for a Prem goalie? Just re-new Hendo's contract and get someone else in as back-up when Martin leaves.

There was a rumour a few weeks ago that he was going back to Australia (Queensland iirc)next season and it will be announced in January.

mk dons have lost lewington (their talisman) for quite some time. delph and/or becchio look likely to be poached away from leeds in January, making their lives more difficult. now is the time to really dig deep into the coffers to strengthen. A good bit of business would be a cash plus players deal for Mattock. If it's Villa he goes to we could look at Isiah Osbourne or Marlon Harewood as part of the deal. Villa are after Heskey so Harewood might be expendable for them and might consider a club that's going to be in the championship next year to build his career again? If Wolves or Everton are in for Mattock then ther are deals to be done cash + players there aswell.
I remember when Kitson was sold to Derby and Gee and Ormondroyd came in in the opposite direction. They proved very important players in what became a promotion side. Garry Parker and Franz Carr both came over to Leicester directly/indirectly as part of Joachim's move to Villa (or was it Mark Draper's?), with Garry Parker being massive in getting us promoted to the premier league.
Mandaric would do well to sort out a deal like this to augment the squad in a way that has produced great results before. You don't win League One with strength in depth at left back!

I'd expect Martin to go back to Liverpool (and then be loaned out again) so we will need another keeper if not to be first choice then to act as cover to the Human Windmill that is Henderson

If we can get us some premier league rejects thatd be handy but I can't see the likes of Marlon Harewood dropping down to league one to be honest, whether we are favourites for promotion this season or not.

I don't want premiership rejects as they tend to just be after a comfortable payday. I would rather we got loan players like Gilbert who see Leicester as a stepping stone to a premiership place. I have felt that Gilbert and despite a couple of poor performances Hobbs have given everything. For me the disappointment has been David Martin. I saw him play for one of the young England teams and thought he had a brilliant future.

Quite a good shout, he must've played so few games in his career. He seems to forever be on the bench.

Surely it would be better to add quality that can improve the team while we are on top rather than rest on our laurels. I agree that Jan should not make or break our season but there is always room for improvement.
