It doesn't change the intention of the point, no. But using Gradel as an example doesn't really work. Sure, Pearson deemed him not not good enough for us at the time he left, but during/after his time as one of "the three best players for Leeds over recent seasons", Sven clearly thought/thinks that he was/is good enough for us. All it's really evidence of is that Gradel developed significantly during his time at Leeds and/or Pearson's and Sven's judgment of a player is different; it can't be used as evidence that Leicester is a step above Leeds and a step forward for a player.

Both of those points are true at the moment in my opinion, but Gradel's movements can't be used to prove them.

The three best players for Leeds over recent seasons have been Schmeichel, Beckford and Gradel. One of them wasn't good enough for us, the other two are now at Leicester.

What makes you say that? Because you have spent millions does that automatically guarantee sucess? Look at the squad Cardiff had and money they had spent to get them out of the league and it failed. Spending a lot of money on new players that have been put together for the first time puts huge pressure on that team. You will be expected to be up there this season and lets be fair you haven't made the best start and there are going to be 5 of 6 strong teams to contend with.
Leeds have actually played very well barring the first game with Southampton. they were the better team at West Ham, Hull and Ipswich (until we had 2 players sent off that day) and Boro(until we had another red card). We might not be up there at the end of the season but we don't look like relegation fodder.

As for Schmeichel, Lonegran so far looks a better goalie. Schemeichel has trantrums and has made a few good mistakes. Didn't he get sent off this season??
And how was Beckford also the 'best player' for Leeds? Delph was far better than him for a start,and Snodgrass and Gradel were better players who set up goals for Beckford. We made excellent business out of Leicester don't forget. We bought Gradel for a song and we made profit on Kasper who was far from being one of the best last season.

Good luck with Beckford. Im mearly pointing out what we saw of him but to come up with predictions like we are going to be in a relegation battle is a little bit stupid if im being honest. The onus is more on Leicester now to get out of this division. Big expectations and all that.

Maybe, but I quite enjoy bazzles posts, at least he posts about the situation as he sees it rather than just slagging us off. Him, Rich B and Rhydal (my favourite IANGWOC) are the three best opposing fans to contribute to this site IMO.

Money definitely doesn't guarentee you success, the only things that can make a team successful are quality players and quality management, and the fact is that in this day and age, you generally have to pay substantial amounts of money to acquire them. So while money doesn't guarentee success, it obviously plays a massive part in assembling a successful side.

I'm inclined to agree with Andrew Neville who says our spending has been blown out of proportion this summer as well, I would be very surprised if we paid all of the fees quoted in the papers. Plus, it's not like we've just gone out and bought loads of players for millions of pounds, there have been some very shrewd acquisitions done cheaply - Nugent, Pantsil, Danns - all free transfers. Fernandes on loan. Peltier, St Ledger, Kasper, Konchesky... none of these cost massive amounts of money in the grand scheme of things. Okay, Mills and Beckford may have cost a bit more, but if they inject the kind of quality into the squad that gets us promoted, they'll be more than worth it.
