My thoughts on team strengthening following last season were:-

1. midfielder with steel - (AJ fits the bill)

2. right winger (to release momo) - Low has a chance to establish himself

3 left winger - a problem position that still needs attention

4 left back - another problem position although i personally rate Sheehan

5 goalkeeper - i would have preferred a new keeper but RK must
be happy with Hendo

6. back-up striker - not a priority now MDV is back if were desperate.

I dont understand the McAuley signing (unless someone is leaving)

The team is starting to come toghether, if there is funding still available id like a left back and left midfielder
Harding and Smith (loan)
job done

Now we have a right winger, what happens to the RB, Maybury/Stearman?

I am waiting for everybody elses opinion so I can gather enough ammunition to launch an all out attack on those who think Alan Maybury should still be picked ahead of our new "specialist" right winger.

For me Maybury can fukk off, if he stays, I hope exceeds all of my expectations

I would imagine he will provide back up to Stearman, I wouldnt be surprised to see RK try to give Stearman more of a rest this coming season, for a young player he played in probably 10 games to many last season which was noticeable as his performance level dipped at the back end of the season.

Maybury could also provide cover if required at left back, so all in all he will be an important squad player next season IMO.

Agreed, IMO Maybury is my Hargreaves of City, he's OK, but never good enough as 1st choice (2nd or 3rd really) but as a squad/utility player, I can accept him

theres no question really. AM has never been a winger and never will be and why we played him as one i dont know. personally id give the new lad a chance to shine on the right as our previous players in that role are hardly anything to look up to. he wont be any worse im sure

Hendo is to goal keeping what Fred West was to landscape gardening. The quicker he goes the better. He can cure anyones constipation without any effort when he goes for a ball from a corner

According to Hazzman Low is a Left Winger.

According to all the northampton fans he isn't

99% of what i have read indicate he is an out and out right winger.

I wouldnt be surprised to see 3 or 4 new faces come in, RK has certainly signalled his intentions, his comment very early on about square pegs in round holes will no doubt lead to us signing a specialist left back and left midfielder, as they are two areas within the squad that we are threadbare.

I think that the signing of a back up striker and another goalkeeper may well be subject to RK being able to move on some of the fringe or out of favour players such as Hamill, MDV, Hammond, Sylla and one of either Rab or Hendo.

Jigsaw?

Wasn't ade known as jigsaw, because he went to pieces in the box???.....

He played on left wing when I seen him play..Northampton V Notts County on a Friday night.

From the highlights on World, it looks like he's a right winger. At least thats where he scored his goals from.

I think we could do with a left winger, but other than that i'm not sure we'll see much more activity. Johans alright for left back - started playing a lot better (like everyone) in the second half of the season. Sheehan as back up.

We're not going to get a better keeper that we can afford.

I'd rather see O'grady/Dodds given a chance next season than bring in someone like Noal-Williams. But would be happy with MDV as back up.
