It will depend on the terms of his contract and whatever decision is made by Newcastle United Football Club. If Newcastle fail to pay him, the P.F.A. will almost certainly get involved. There was a similar case relatively recently of a player going to prison, where the club at first decided not to pay him but after the intervention of the P.F.A. he received full pay.

The club sacked him before the case even went to court, and it's the period between this date and the date of his conviction the FA said he was owed. Once he was convicted they didn't have to pay him.
