John Doherty RIP

I wondered if any other ancients recall Busby Babe, John Doherty, who has just passed away and played a few games for us back in the late 50's.

He came to Leicester with a bit of a reputation for being a skilful inside forward but unfortunately looked really out of touch at Filbert Street and moved on very quickly to obscurity.

Sorry, my memory only goes back to the Gordon Banks era.

Most of the folks who'd remember him would be computer illiterates or demised I should imagine. :icon_conf

I remember him coming here, but can't recall him playing, which probably confirms that he was well past his best.

A player known to be able to play a bit, coming to City and losing his way, surely not?

I believe 12 appearances - 5 goals. Not bad was it?

In spite of that ratio, as i say, he looked far from fully fit.

He was actually very young when he gave up the full time professional game - left us for non-league football.
