Are the byes picked at random, or based on perceived ability?

If it's the second, surely we'll get one? I want to play Wycombe, the only team lower than us which I have a friend that supports them... (Plus, pretty much the closest ground to me at home)

At random.

I want to play Wycombe

I wouldn't mind Wycombe away. Or Dagenham & Redbridge or Barnet away. All grounds where I haven't seen City play.

Don't worry ...... we don't need to look past these dates.

There's a 33% chance that we will get a bye in the first round; therefore there is at least a 33% chance that we will have to look at least as far as the second round dates.

Is this the comp that you are forced to play so many of your 1st team players ?

Rule 7.3 - Each Club shall play its full available strength in all matches. The Board will from time to time issue a policy as to what constitutes ‘full available strength’. Any Club failing to meet this requirement will be required to pay a fine of up to £5,000.

Having quoted that, I would point out that the Carling League Cup has an exactly similar clause and we have had plenty of experience in ignoring that.

I thought I read somewhere (possibly in another post on here), that a "full strength team" must consist of at least 8 players who have the most appearances for the season in their respective position.

It's a stupid rule, if the clubs don't get there that's their choice.

you can get fined if the first team doesn't play........what if you put your first team out and they sit on a rug on the pitch all game drinking wine and having sandwiches while the dog and duck hammer you 100-0?

I'll be annoyed if we don't take this seriously. We're in it. Let's win it! Yeah!

Yes - this sort of thing just brings home to me, the dire straits we are in - I know these potentially epic encouters will be well covered by the Mockery & RL - but would't it be better to maintain a dignified silence about this meaningless kick a bout?

To be honest, as we are stuck in this feckless trophy, I wouldn't mind Wycombe away as it is only down the road for me.

Absurd? A chance to win a great big shiny trophy at Wembley? In our current position, that's far from absurd IMO.
