Going back 20 years or so, I'd have given my right arm to see LCFC play at Wembley - in any competition.
I remember - as I'm sure many others do with great fondness - the Zenith Data Northern semi & final vs Notts County, and then F****t of those times... A 'competiton' in comparison to the JPT.
But we are a 'big' club now Bob
Personally I will only travel to Wembley for the finest of competitions, and then only in a chauffeur driven limousine - and this one is clearly way beneath us nowadays
Remember that we are a Premiership club now in every way (apart from the actual league that we play in)
to be fair its not a case of us being too big for this competition, i would see accrington as being too big for the JPT....anyone who will go to wembley and spunk away a daft amount of money on a match of no importance to support us fair play to them, but they wouldn't do it for preseason matches
Its not a pointless match, any match that involves a trophy will bring confidence to the players, plus they get a chance to play at wembley and for most of our players it will be a huge experience in front of a huge crowd, so i think if we win it, it would be a good thing for the club and players in particular.
ill take any cup run and /or trophy win we can get.
I'd rather win the JPT than go out at the first round. which would be more embarrassing for the fans and club?

going out in the first round may be embarassing for a while, but at least a reminder that we entered the ****er wont be left in the trophy cabinet. it will be interesting to see how many teams actually take the competition seriously
I would have thought quite a few teams will, it is after all their only chance of silverware in some cases.
Any cup win is a cup win, and i'd love it in the cabinet.
We have a half decent squad and we have a good chance at progressing through the stages.

Plus a good cup run would lift the team and fans ,which can only be good all round IMO.
you have much more faith than the organisers then, seeing as they fine you for putting out reserve players
the fans would most likely greet it with apathy and the players would probably want to concentrate on getting out of the league (I hope)
The league is the most important yes.
I'm pretty sure that rule was put in place for the 'bigger' clubs in the comp who just wanted the league like the likes of Leeds and Forest.
I want to the club to win everything we enter if thats the JPT now or the FA Vase in 8 years.
friggin hell, i can imagine all the cup matches being sell outs this season then
I dont think the matches will be and here comes the but :icon_wink ,if we get near to the final i can see them being a sell out maybe
there may be a decent turn out at wembley (people wanting to visit wembley - as with the Ebbsfleet Torquay match last season) but that will be the thing that draws people to go, the semis would still be under 10000 i'd hope, if our fans are excited about this cup i really do give up
