Foxes To Face Imps

Posted on: Sat 06 Sep 2008

Leicester City will meet League Two Lincoln City at the Walkers Stadium in Round Two (North East Section) of the Johnstone's Paint Trophy.

The Foxes were paired with The Imps in the live draw on Soccer AM on Saturday morning.

The second round matches are scheduled to be played week commencing October 6.

The last time the two sides met was during the 1982/83 season when Lincoln defeated City over two legs in the League Cup.

This is the Foxes first appearance in the competition and they kick-started their campaign in excellent fashion with a 3-0 victory at League One rivals Hartlepool United last Tuesday evening.

Steve Howard, Nicky Adams and Matty Fryatt were on target at Victoria Park.

Southern Section

Cheltenham Town v Walsall
Hereford United v Swindon Town
Wycombe Wanderers v Shrewsbury Town
Milton Keynes Dons v AFC Bournemouth
Peterborough United v Dagenham & Redbridge
Brighton & Hove Albion v Leyton Orient
Gillingham v Colchester United
Luton Town v Brentford

Northern Section

Tranmere Rovers v Crewe Alexandra
Rochdale v Carlisle United
Chester City v Morecambe
Bury v Stockport County
Scunthorpe United v Grimsby Town
Rotherham United v Leeds United
Darlington v Huddersfield Town
Leicester City v Lincoln City

Ties are to be played week commencing 6th October 2008.

Happy with that. Particularly considering we had a one in three chance at that point of Darlington away.

eeerrr... Darlington were drawn before us. By the time we were drawn the only chances were Lincon at home or Lincoln away.

I would rather have had the latter, never having seen them there before.

Yeah but surely it's good for them drawing a big team and getting some of the "massive" gate receipts.

I'm sure I was at a Lincoln v Millwall game with you. Did I imagine it?

You didn't. I was. The 'them' that I referred to in my poat was Leicester City.

I would have thought that there would be potential for a bigger gate if the game had been at Sincil Bank. The admission charge will be much-reduced wherever it is.

Thanks for the lift to Lincoln, by the way!

Did I give you a lift to Lincoln? I can remember picking you up by the Jewry Wall to take you somewhere or other once but I thought you got to Lincoln with the InternetFoxes lot.

I remember that you played full-back against the IImps and Bernie (not that one) was sick several times after an overdose of Bacon Cobs on the way up the A46.
