IMO It's out of order to boo/slate a player of your own while you are at the match,I fail to see how it helps the team and the player isn't going to play better for it,its different than moaning about them to your mate sitting next to you though. However making your feelings known about them on a Club Forum is surely what the Forum is about and is fine.I can't believe any fan of ours or any other club goes down the match believing every player playing that afternoon are wonderful,it's just seems a bit pointless screaming to them that they are shite whilst they are out there.

Could not agree more.

Whilst Jordy can be a little fustrating at times, I tend to agree with Webbo, Jordy has been one of the few shining lights in what has been a pretty dismal season.

His work rate is phenomenal, he is a constant threat down the left provding good support and link up with Tiatto, he is energetic, skillful and can deliver decent crosses, however sometimes he does fustrate, but he keeps getting in those positions and therefore you have to credit him for not shrinking away or hiding. He is still young and is talented and is probably one of the best attacking full backs in the division.

We all criticised MA for signing has beens and producing a one dimensional team lacking in pace and mobility, but then one of the only mobile, energetic and young players we have in the team gets constantly berated, no wonder CL doesnt pick the likes of Dawson, Stearman etc.

We need to get behind these players, fine if Jordy isn't giving his all or not showing the commitment we believe he should then get on his back, but this lad always gives 110% IMO and for that reason he should be a favourite with the fans not a scapegoat.

alex, stop trying to lick everyones arse, first of all u slate jordan, then u say hes the one of the best talents we have got. later u say you used to moan at players when they played shite and then when someone posts saying that this shouldnt be done you agree with it. if you going to contribute to this forum then use your own point of view and stick to it instead of changing it whenever a post is made.

PS meltonfox. ask yourself this. what is the point in going to watch a football match and whilst your there, instead of cheering them on, shout abuse at them and tell them they are shite? if you dont like it and cant stand it dont bother going cus it the people like you that have ruined the atmosphere at home matches. and just for you alex :smt097

Edit:

Alex has been suspended from the forum after breaking the rules regarding personal abuse.

If you don't agree with someone please don't just respond by calling them names and telling them to **** off.

Webmaster.

Oi listen ere matey!

Please go back and read my quote (I understand where you may have came to the wrong conclusion).

I have never EVER once in my life, shouted abuse at a player or booed at the team. Yes, I groan when Jordy's crosses continually go astray, yes I groan when connelly misses chances that my 2 week older would have been repremanded for missing, yes I used to compalin when I turned up at a match and Micky Adams was still on the bench. However, these groans are to my wife, Dad and Father-In-Law who sit next to me, for the rest of the game I am 100% behind the team.

My quote was "it does give us a divine right to lay into the bastards for constantly underperforming" I don't, but I do understand why others do.

So apologies if I caused any confusion.

Regards

What a ridiculous thread this has turned out to be !!!!

Football always has been about opinion and debate. Players who are under achieving have every right to expect a bit of stick from the fans. It has always been the way.

I can't really believe that anyone on this forum came away from a 1-0 defeat by Rotherham on Boxing Day saying 'Well ! The lads didnt play well but they all tried hard and I will cheer them anyway'

The fact is that on that day, like so many others, certain individuals did not play well enough, did not put their heart and soul into the game and deserved every bit of stick they got from the fans.

Maybe, booing the team isn't the best way to motivate them, but it damn well should be. The players are playing for our club. Not only do we pay their wages, but we invest time and effort into supporting the club and when we see players not performing in the manner expected, then we have every right to voice our disapproval.

It's about time everyone realises that players are in a position of privilege. Forget about the money that they earn, that is not the issue. What would you give to play profesional football for Leicester City? I know I'd do it for free and give it 110% every game. It would genuinely hurt me to lose a match and you wouldn't catch me having an off day or not being in the mood. If the fans decided I wasn't doing enough, I would damn well try harder.

Whatever you feel about Jordan, you should have the right to voice your opinion. Get behind the team, of course, but if you feel that someone isn't performing - damn well stand up and shout at him..... He certainly isn't gonna try any harder if everyone tells him what a great game he's had when he's had a shocker.

And by the way, suspending someone like Alex, who is usually an excellent poster just for having a go at someone who has berated his opinion is a bit lame IMO....

Do you think responding to something you don't agree with by saying "**** off you ****" ... "you're a *****" is acceptable?
(I think you can guess the deleted words!)

Maybe in the playground that kind of response is considered to be clever, but I expect a bit more from people on this forum.

No.

The nature of abuse, the language, and the context were nowhere near as bad as Alex's response.

matt_c0nn0lly's comments were mild by comparison, and if you read his post, he does try to justify the bit you quoted.

Alex could have argued with it, but instead he resorted to abuse and naughty words.

Thanks so much Rich for your support - and to be honest, that's been really lovely.

Webbo is right too though (here I go licking arse) I shouldn't have resorted to abusive language, but was having a bad day... I used the c word, don't you know?

In the front few rows there are a lot of city fans that slag of the players during a match, particularly Jordan, Even when he is playing well there are dozens of fans that swear at Stewart, call him all the names under the sun, make hand jesters to him, all are things that are bound to distract any player and de-motive him.

I don’t think any of us believe that a player goes out on the pitch with the intention of playing badly. Most try to achieve results, I agree that some try more than others, but Stewart does give 110%, even if he is having a bad day, he still tries hard and does not deserve the abuse he gets.

You don’t encourage anyone to achieve by putting them down, you do it by building their confidence through emphasis on the positive good things they achieve and once their confidence grows they will try again.
For those that sit at the front rows having a go at the players, just once, try to be positive. When steward runs down the wing skins 2-3 players and then does a crap cross. Don’t slag him off.

Tell him what a good run it was. Say to him "Well done Stewart" or "Hard luck Jordan" and then watch him try it again. Slag him off and he won’t try. It is simple human psychology.

Ask any manager, in and field. If you want stop someone performing, tell them how crap they are.

Some players are stronger minded than others. You have the Robbie Savages, and the Den not so Wise type characters who seem to thrive on abuse, and make a career out of proving people wrong. On the other side you have Jason (pineapple on his head) Lee whose career went downhill after taking abuse about his daft hair style. Its the usual thing some players need praising all the while, and others need a boot up the arse.Jordon Stewart i have no doubt wants to do well for Leicester but constant criticism will erode his confidence.

Your right about savage and wisless, but thet thrive on abuse from the oposition fans not there own.

who was it that left the field at millwall because they thought they'd been sent off, but it was someone else that had been red carded? mid 90's? i can't remember for the life of me.
