That’s not really what I was saying though. He’s essentially cost us about £12m, including transfer fee, for someone who hasn’t contributed anything. The fact that others, at other clubs, or even at this club, may do the same, is a separate issue. I was just commenting that he’s cost us a fair whack and not done anything.

presumably we got a fee for him on this transfer and also probably got a loan fee from his spell in Germany, yeah it was a gamble that flopped, we aren't the first to do it off the back of a international tournament and won't be the last

Maybe. All in all though it’s a good few million wasted, albeit he’s not the only player to have done that for us.
