I don't think anyone who we want to keep. Judging from the squad selection at Boston ( he says stating the bleeding obvious ) if we could offload MDV, Sylla or Hamill, we would ).

But surely a CB will be going out. MDV is still useful and I'd say currently 3rd choice (despite last night, he's still got the best record compared to the other two) striker, Hamill can play on either wing and while not that good going forward is ok at protecting the fullback IMO, he's good back-up...Sylla may be going out but that just means we'll have less wingers when we need more... Not so sure RK leaving them out us much of an indicator anyway, in his interview he also named Dodds, but he's mysteriously gone missing from any quotes I've seen printed.

ETA: Also, has PK's contract been upped to the 8k p/w that was rumoured? That must make him our highest paid player..

Wouldnt make him our top earner even if he is on 8k now.

Going on the boston game - MDV is 5th choice.
I don't think Hammil is even good enough for back up. He's a nothing player. In fact, i'd rather keep Sylla, at least you can see what CL saw in him - when he wants to play he can be ok. But his attitude sucks and doen't look interested most the time.

Interesting to hear Dodds name being mention in the same sentence as the other 3.

I thought Hamill was signed on a 1 year deal? I thought he was only a 'he may come good' sort of a player that we could offload if he was no good.

What advantage does this have for us? He was still contracted for a couple more seasons, so it's not like he was about to walk away. If someone else wants to sign him we may get slightly more if he's contracted for 3 seasons (or whatever) rather than two, but surely the point of the contract is to keep him...which we were doing anyway under the current deal.

It's morning now and I'm still baffled.

I would say there was a strong chance he fancied one of the moves he mentioned. This new contract will be a way of keeping him.

if he wanted to leave we shouldve let him go its not as if we are short on defenders..

I'm still asking myself why the club would want to extend the contract of a player who has still two years to run on his present one. It needs to be born in mind that this story appeared on only one of the usual myriad of bollox-talk sites and there has been nothing to confirm it from any source at all.

Maybe there were clauses in his original contract we just don't know about.

He was injured with a bad knee injury when Hearts released him, maybe ( i use the term losely here) City learnt from the Lee Morris debacle and said in his contract play a certain amount of games/prove fitness get a better deal?

Just a long shot, if so I can't begrudge him a new deal :102:

Kisnorbo is a regular columnist on that site, I'm confident the story came from him and wasn't made up.

I can not imagine that Kisnorbo himself would have written a single word of it. Much more likely to have been penned by somebody who would insist that he had Kisnorbo's best interests at heart.

There is a page on the Tribalfootball site which says the stuff in the columns by their "star columnists" is what they actually say, and not a journalist's slant on it. Can't find the page at the moment though so you'll have to take my word for it.

I'm happy to take your word for the fact that such a page exists. I'm not suggesting that a journalist has made it up.

I agree. Especially as he has only half a good season under his belt. Handing out new contracts to star players got us into admin after all, but handing out a new contract to Muzzy, Lenny and Elliott was a little bit more understandable than this one.

Glad he's staying, but a million or so quid would have been worth a sale IMO.

I think you are probably right - something of that sort

It's on the OS, he's signed a year's extension. :) Glad to see he won't be going anywhere.
