What is the point? I mean...really?!

One of the points is that if somebody does want to buy him off us, it will now cost them more,

And it does seem to confirm the rumours that there have been other clubs sniffing around.

Not much more though, would probably cost themselves more as they'd have to up the wages offer.

I'm not sure it confirms that other clubs have been interested, his agent may have just been playing a good game.

I think you would be surprised how much difference it would make; effectively any interested club would be buying out an extra year of his contract. And, although it is by no means certain that Kisnorbo has had any great increase in his rate of remuneration, this too might make a difference in the amount of fee we could expect for him in the future.

I am sure that his agent has been playing a great game, but I can't imagine that that alone would have made the club act to extend his contract.

In any case, I think it is a sensible move for the club to start to reduce the number of players whose contract expires in 2008. The disproportionate number of players that we have in this group would otherwise seem to make us vulnerable in a year's time. It's nice to see them looking to the future and putting the one-year deals of the regime-before-last behind us.

The club would be the ones who knew of any interest from other clubs, before the agent, otherwise the interested club would be "tapping up" Kisnorbo.

The board would know if any clubs had serious interest, and I imagine they did and that's why he has been given a new contract.
I have no problem with him getting a new contract. The club know better than we do the details of his existing contract and will know whether or not it would be financially worthwhile to up the contract or not..

Obviously this is a good move. To me it says that the management know that it is important to keep the current squad together..

Well done PK's agent. I wonder if Wigan and Brum were actually interested at all.

I too want to know who is leaving now instead.

Yes, his agent certainly seems to have had a good shot at moving on his client.....and then when no interest materialised, he settled for Plan B.

Wonder if they asked for a loyalty bonus?
