DJ deal alive
Blackpool, 17:35, July 1, 2009

Blackpool are still holding out hope of signing DJ Campbell on a permanent basis as his future at Leicester remains uncertain.

The Seasiders are keen to sign the striker after he impressed while on loan last season but it looked as though the player's refusal to lower his wage demands would scupper a deal.

Campbell is said to be on £9,000 a week and Ian Holloway will not be able to match such terms.

However, there have been suggestions that the player is desperate to get away from the Walkers Stadium and could take a pay cut to join the Seasiders if no other attractive offers come along.

Thought this thread was another interesting update on the hairy cornflake

What a let down

It'd be pure genius if we could get actual, real money - genuine pounds and pence - from Cov for him.

And I'd laugh until my knackers fell off.

I hope DJ leaves.

DJ won't take a pay cut. From the Blackpool Gazette. :icon_conf

However, that won't be Campbell, after Holloway admitted the striker's wage demands resulted in a deal collapsing.

Pool had agreed a £300,000 deal for the striker, another loan success at Bloomfield Road last season, but couldn't match his Leicester wages.

Holloway said: "We agreed a fee but his agent told us we'd have to pay him what he's currently on. When Leicester got promoted last season, DJ's money went up dramatically due to a clause in his contract. He's on a huge amount and we couldn't possibility match it."

Just more recycled news, it's the same story that was first reported weeks ago.

To some extent true but the first I remember with an actual fee amount being mentioned. :102:

From todays mercury:

However, club skipper Stephen Clemence, bidding for a first-team return after a year-long lay-off, and unsettled striker DJ Campbell are expected to stay in Leicester.

The Mercury understands that Campbell is involved in talks with the club over his future.
