I agree, and if I wasn't confident that my nephews would behave themselves, then they would stay at home.

So, do "decent" restaurants only serve adult portions?

Seems a shame that my Mum can't celebrate in the way she wishes to if they do.

Yes. They usually charge more than the £5.50 meals you go out for :icon_lol::icon_lol::icon_wink

My advice:

Leave the little shits at home or failing that, stay at home with them. People go out for a meal for a relaxing time not to be terrorised by children.

I agree - which is why I always instruct the mini homers to run around and bother everyone else rather than bother me, so that I can eat my meal in peace

Works wonderfully

Decently behaved children should be welcome anywhere; it's their reward for being decently behaved.

Badly behaved children should be kept at home until they can behave - and their parents should stay with them; it's their just reward for tolerating their children's behaviour.

Brilliant reply Bob, couldn't have put that better myself.

Really decent restaurants are flexible enough to serve a smaller portion, but that's because they are using fresh food and not pre-portioned, part-pre-prepared stuff.

Can anybody recommend a good (as in good food, good atmosphere, nice surroundings) restaurant suitable for celebrating a special birthday. Major consideration is that it has to be child-friendly (under fives).

Does such a place exist in Leicestershire? :icon_conf

Antibos, next to Train Station & The Curry House London Rd seems to welcome kids. The menu is variable in quality but whilst pasta dishes are a bit hit and miss, the slightly more expensive meat dishes are very good.

ps - they make a fuss of you on a birthday, so tell them when/if you book.

White Horse, Desford.

Reasonable Sunday roast, wide choice and decent value at £9.95 for 2 or £11.95 for 3 courses.

Last time I was there me and my mate got told to leave for being too drunk. :icon_redf

Tis a decent place though.

We recently went to Sketchley Grange in Hinckley for a Sunday lunch (60th birthday) party. They had a private room but there is a restaurant too. The doors opened onto the garden so the kids could run around and play on the swings / slide etc. I didn't pay so I don't know how much it was. I guess it wasn't the cheapest.
