Groundshare or bust then....

No compelling argument from him about why it should be so however.

sounds like it.

he mentioned an 'ever increasing debt'

i thought we were paying the interest, my previous understanding was that we were mainting the level of debt, not getting any smaller, or bigger?

It increases when we are in the Championship, as our payments are reduced to a more manageable level.

As we are supposedly on a more sound financial footing could we not refinance this deal? :102: :102:

I doubt it - or at least not at better terms than exist. While the club may be out of administration, it is hardly a good bet. If you were a bank would you lend to a business with no credit rating on terms that let them pay less than the cost of capital, in the vague hope that one day they might strike it rich in a notoriously unpredictable and unstable industry?

That was one of the attractions of the original groundshare deal - 2 tenants rather than one, one of which would be prepared to make an up-front payment. That would have allowed a much easier loan deal to be put together.

Whatever we may think of the concept of sharing for other reasons, what he is saying in his answer makes good business sense, and for the board not to keep the option open if, and for as long as, it remains possible would not be prudent for the club as a business.

Leading on from what OG said, at the time of admin all the cards were stacked in favour of the Teacher's Pension Fund - it was the only deal we could get. As OG says, no bank would refinance on more favourable terms given our financial situation. As a bean counter myself, a ground share would give us so much more flexibilty going forward - I know for emotional reasons some don't like it, but we are where we are, and remember the present situation was brought about by a previous administration.

I've always been behind the groundshare. At the end of the day, what's best for LCFC is good for me, and the groundshare is the best way forward.

i thinks its more a case of they dont want it happening rather than us not wanting it .My MD is well in at the tiggers and he reckons its never going to happen.

Like the man said, if the Tigers can redevelop Welford Road, they will. I'd think they'd have an easier job of it that we did getting planning permission for the Walkers.

were not dead now and i doubt we'll be dead in the future so no to the groundshare for me. AGAIN

my mates a wigan fan and said when their two teams ground shared it was no good for either, the grass was too short for the rugby and the pitch was too much of a state for the footy. If Adams was still manager it'd probably suit our style of play but I'm hoping to see some good football in the coming couple of seasons.

The Reading pitch is pretty good for football I thought.

true, I spose it depends on the groundsman. I do remember them saying about some new technology to keep the pitch decent round the time they were discussing the ground share. Not totally convinced tho.

I have always been fully against ground sharing and nothing I have read will change my mind. As I have stated on here before, I doubt very much if it will ever happen, and that if it ever did ( god forbid ) it would become "The Walkers Stadium, home to the Tigers and also to lcfc "

I say feck 'em.....:icon_evil
