Honestly…

It was clear from the first few seconds that Buonanotte was well up for it, and what a first half performance. Ayew was terrific. The centre back pairing absolutely superb. In fact I can’t point anyone out as having a particularly poor match.

The players really seem to work hard for this manager, and they seem to enjoy it too. They’re allowed the freedom to try to dribble round an opponent or play a through ball, even though both are likely to result in losing the ball. Some what of a difference to last season, and enjoyable to watch.

Yes we were hanging on for dear life in the second half. But with one of the weakest squads in the league, grinding out wins is what we will need to do.

It’s been a steady but perfectly fine start to the season. Trust the process.

Much, much better first half. We played with intent and we looked like we wanted to get the ball forward at every opportunity.

In the second half we retreated too far but we still tried to exploit the spaces when they were there. Faes was exceptional today; our best player.

They hit the woodwork twice and we got a favourable offside decision go our way but we will have plenty that go against us this season.

It's a better performance that now needs to be backed up with a win against Southampton next week.

But we were fortunate that Bournemouth's finishing was so bad. Play like that second half for the rest of the season and we'll be lucky to win another game.
