“When we played a style of football that was deliberately different, it gave us a chance against anyone. Now we're just settling for secondary status and a few condescending pats on the back”.

That’s 100% absolutely the exact root of my frustration. Was talking about that with my parents yesterday after the results. What is the point of playing in the same style as the bigger clubs when all that means is the team with the best players wins? It’s an inevitability that we finish around 7-8 because that’s how much our squad is worth and we seem happy to play well in this style and lose than actually ruffle the feathers. I find it antithetical to what we’ve stood for for a long time. It’s amazing. The footballing world seems to have completely forgotten what made Leicester successful in the first place. Including Leicester. It’s fine to evolve but we are, like many others, falling into The Pepball trap.

Both posts deserve credit for these points and I totally agree.
I am fed up with Pep Guardiola getting showered with praise because his team plays better football now he’s got all the best players.
Clearly other teams cannot keep up and so yes - we have to play in a different manner.
Same problem exists in most sport. Over-reliance and obsession with stats means we’re all singing from the same sheet.

I’d rather we find out that our style absolutely smashes, say, Huddersfield, but doesn’t work at all against Liverpool, than only beat Huddersfield because we’ve spent more and had more corners.

No it wasn't

It was the stupefying ****wittery of the highest order

Perhaps the most incredible thing about yesterday's game is that it took the feckwit a whole hour before he finally brought a bloody striker on instead of fartarsing about with the hapless Gray, who clearly cannot play in that role while he has a hole in his arse FFS

It was extraordinarily stupid in every possible way
Guess we disagree.

Perhaps it's me getting it wrong. Who had the shot through the defender's leg that their goalie saved with his arm as he dived to the right? In the first half. It was a fantastic save. I thought it was going to be a goal.
Ah so it was you that was sleeping!

I’d have given Gray a 3 or 4, and Ndidi a 9 personally.

God I sound like FIF with these player ratings.

As long as you don't start saying we were fools for not buying Benteke for thirty million quid

Some interesting points from James Sharpe's post game analysis in the Merc. Especially around Maddison's substitution.

He is a feckin idiot, in general, though he thinks he's great. Same with that utter twat Tanner. Bring back Bill FFS

Maybe a better point would be to note that the whole side effectively died the minute he walked off the pitch

There's obviously a thought process behind every selection and/or substitution decision. In this Match at least a couple of them were completely ludicrous

The Mercury piece on why Maddison was replaced by Amartey is excellent. . I will admit that I had not realised that Maddison had faded. It suggests that Puel may know more about the game than I do. . I cannot agree with Homer that the team died when Amartey came on. It seemed to me that we ended the game as the better team .

Amartey is the new King. :(

My biggest problem with that substitution isn’t necessarily that Maddison was taken off, it was that we were just changing like-for-like in terms of shape.

Yes, we were only one goal down and yes we were having more of the ball, but we weren’t really creating a massive amount and there was less than 10 minutes left. Should we not have tried something different, in terms of shape or something? I would have just liked to have seen us go for it a bit more, whereas it kind of drifted away from us, without us building any real pressure.

The same people still pining for defend all game then twat it long I see, they obviously missed the fact that we had been sussed out by everyone so we had to change our approach. It’s why our last 2 managers got sacked with us in or around the bottom 3

Nobody has said, that

Ever

The fact that you think they have says more about you than anything else, really
