Where does 0.76 come from? Surely more than 80% of penalties go in first time?

At time of writing (January 6, 2021), 1,894 out of 2,278 penalties awarded in Premier League history have been scored, equating to a success rate of 83.14 per cent.
So I'm guessing roughly 7% are ones that are saved and then scored from a rebound? If the stat is based on penalties that just go in first time then surely 0.83 is more appropriate.

I'm not confused, I understand exactly what you're saying. It's just not what happens though.
This has nothing to do with the fact that it should be what happens. You know, because of the laws of the game and that.

Mate, the horse died a long time ago, stop slapping it you cruel bastard.
