Was not able to watch the game so only seen the BBC 3 minute highlights and read the match thread.

So on the basis of limited information...

What a crap ref. Their goalie clearly handling 2 metres outside his box and Musa booked when he politely mentions it to the ref! And apparently several other really dodgy decisions.

Big Was and Benny appear to have both played well. Before the game I would have said "They will defend well, but both will get a yellow and at least one of them will get a red". So well done Was and Benny.

Gray can now shoot on target!

Kaputska, Ndidi and Gray had a great game.

Chillwell had a great game. (Note to Morgan and Huth knockers. You do not have to be a slow 30+ player to deflect a shot into the net!)

Lots of urgency displayed which was good and for a second XI that do not regularly play together they put in a good team performance, so well done to them.

So who gets a start on Sunday?

At the back I would start Schmeichel, Simpson, Morgan, Huth and Chilwell. I would tell Morgan and Huth to play flat out and let Benny replace whichever one falls over first.

Ndidi and Mendy start in the middle. Mahrez and Gray start on the wings.

Slimani and Okazaki start up front. Vardy to replace Okazaki after 60 minutes when he grinds to a halt.

Drinky, King, Musa, Albrighton, Ulloa and Fuchs on the bench.

Benalouane Amartey, Chilwell, Gray and Slimani all put their hand up there. Well. Slimani perpetrated the worst miss of all time. But still looked like a striker who had being doing the job for more than 5 minutes
Musa showed he is an absolute clown.

I'd reckon Benalouane HAS to start with Huth or Morgan next game. He can pass the f*cking ball for a start which is more than either of the aforementioned.
Chilwell is class. Gray needs games and will be an absolute beast one of these days.

Schmeichel
Amartey Morgan Benalouane
Albrighton Ndidi Drinkwater Chilwell
Mahrez Slimani Gray

would be my team v Swansea

A good performance, I think each individual can take confidence from that, and the players that came in showed everything we have been missing from the regulars.

In particular Benny, Chilwell and Gray were excellent, and assuming they are all fit enough after 120 minutes (they didn't look tired even at the end) should be starting the next game.

Ndidi and King looked good together, and seemed to have a good understanding.

Personally I would be happy for the team that finished the game to start the next, but I know we won't risk that, but hopefully the regulars feel a bit of pressure to keep their place and increase their effort and focus.

Great result. Some really good performances.

Now lets get Vardy, Fuchs, Morgan, Drinkwater and the rest back in for Sunday.

No way would I bring Fuchs back in, not at the expense of Chilwell anyway.

Oh, sorry, my bad. Missed the irony :-)

Well we won't have to trouble ourselves with whether it would work or not because Nelson will get his eye back before we see that central defensive pairing this weekend.
And therein lies the problem this season.

The morning after, the players that I was most pleased by were Kapustka and Benalouene. Both started quietly and somewhat tentatively but both grew into their games. Look at Kapustka's role in King's goal, he starts the attack with some excellent skills. There was also some decent interchanges with Gray and Chilwell. I'm not sure he's ready to start in the league yet but he's not far away.

Benalouene won some really good challenges at the edge of the box (one of which the ref incorrectly called foul), he is good in the air, comfortable on the ball and can pass. He's not the quickest, which is telling when he goes forward and has to get back, but that's common enough amongst centre backs. I'd like to see him start in place of Morgan.

Gray was the outstanding player of the night, and Ndidi just confirmed what a good player he is, but we knew that of them already! Mendy, I like greatly and I'd like to see him get more match time. He get's about, getting tackles and interceptions in, laying the ball off simply. I think it's easy to underestimate his effectiveness because he doesn't do anything fancy to grab the eye. I can see he and Ndidi forming the centre of our midfield.

Second half the game opened up. Loved seeing Grey running at them.

Mahrez looked good when he came on. Perhaps it was the introduction of quality that won it.

Great result would have been better in 90 mins.

It may only have been Derby. it may have gone to ET but it could also easily have been 6-0. 2 Clear penalties not given and I'd have sent off both their CB and GK. How was that not handball outside the box denying a goalscoring opportunity?

And their goal on another day doesn't get the wicked deflection.

16/1 to win the FA Cup, 66/1 for the Champions League - might be time for a cheeky double :D

Derby have the lowest points haul in Premier League history.

Any Derby fan even attempting to down play our league title really is a complete tit.

Silly bell piece.

One thing that may have been missed by the proper fans who were there was Claudio looking very taken by the chants for him.

Until Jon Mills has commented on the subject, I'm choosing to completely ignore that information

Felt really proud of our fans for the fantastic reception we gave to Nuge when he came on.

None of this 'reject' rubbish.

Not quite so proud of the 'Champions of England, you'll never sing that' echoing around the ground

Feckwits

Ndidi could be the purchase of the Jan window.

He could be Kanté -like.
