A point of like to raise is Daniel Amartey playing at right back. He's had 2 decent games in the position but struggles to provide anything going forward. Is it now time that he got his chance in his natural position at centre half? With Morgan injured surely we need to look at moving him across and promoting a right back from the under 23s and/or purchasing a new right back.

Slimani was ace today and offered us a far more rounded and complete option compared to Vardy who in my opinion isn't doing enough in his overall game to help the team.

Some people think he's beyond criticism and that anyone who thinks he has limitations should just shut up and worship.

He offers us so much, but not enough in our current style of play.

Slimani was a top stand in today.
I’m not being picky Lako me old fruit but I really can’t see who we could get who is better than Vardy for under ~£50 million +.

What is absolute fact and not debatable are his goals, scoring 1 in 2 games over the last 2 1/2 seasons.

Outside of that excellent fact (BN), he:

1) Leads from the front.
2) Is an excellent passer and crosser of the ball.
3) Closes down the opposition magnificently.
4) Tracks back and is often defending on the edge of his own area.
5) throws himself into challenges he shouldn’t win and galvanises the team.
6) Has a superb touch and is a natural finisher.
7) Sets the tempo for defending and attackng.
8) Heads the ball very well.
9) Sets up and brings other players into attack.
10) is always on the shoulder and is offside very little in relation to the number of runs he makes.

Agreed ha has off games but overall he is exceptional and there are less than a handful of other strikers in this league I would swap him with.

His goals haven’t dried up under Puel in spite of us playing far more possession and passing based build up football, he has adapted his game very well.

Of course we play to his strengths but we would need the footballing lack of attention equivalent to that of Paul Mersin not to build our play around sticking the round thing in the rectangular thing.

Apart from that though what have the Romans ever done for us?

I was going to add surely you could walk to the KP from Aylestone, I used to live there, so I know how far it is. How's the Black Horse by the way?

One of the pleasures of August used to be walking back from Filbert Street or the KP along the river. Sadly these days I struggle to walk from the King Power to Morrisons. The Black Horse and The Union are both thriving with cheerful landlords and friendly barmaids. I enjoy both but my real watering hole is the Kings Lock Tea Rooms.

So when you talk about passing, you don't actually mean passing. Are there any other football terms you don't know the meaning of?

A brilliant put down. Jeff what a loss you are to Question Time

Slimani was a top stand in today.

I cannot comment on Slimani today. However, much as I admired Frankie Wortho and Gary Lineker I regard Vardy as the best Leicester striker I have seen. . No striker in my time has had such good all-round play. He was also a key member of the team that won the Premier League; something I never dreamed I would see.

Despite impressive stats, I would agree that Shinji wasn't at his best today but, I put that down to having to create a partnership with a striker who has started only rarely and is very different to his usual partner. Whilst it would be foolish to wish to replace Jamie Vardy, who has a scoring record beyond reproach; it is vital to develop a plan 'B' and Slim' is the best that we've got - unless we go out and spend big money, AGAIN!

Positives:
  • we managed to cope without Vardy - I loved the shot ball play we adopted after 20 or so minutes when they realised Slimani isn't going to chase down every single hoof ball.
  • Silva was in a different league
  • we survived without Wes Morgan
  • Amartey seems to be doing well at right back
Negatives
  • Gray needed to pass a bit more - he should have layed that ball off to Slim or Albrighton to make it 4-0
  • we have a Dilema of who to play in Midfield now Silva is in (Ndidi Iborra and Silva all deserve a spot)
  • Fuchs is losing the plot

But Jamie Vardy is the perfect example of why you don't need to go out and spend big money.

That would be a positive in my book.

Had the 4-0 On a bit peeved with Mr Gray.
( should have been 4 long before that though :) )

Possession for the most part was 50/50 and the Terriers looked dangerous at times in the first 45. They still had their tails up after 1-0 and maybe 2-0 but we seemed to dispossess them easily. Only one attempt on goal for them I can remember and Kasper certainly wasn't tested.
At 0-0 early in the second half they (especially their keeper) were clearly playing for a draw. They only really started to attack once we got the second.

Slimani did exceptionally well. His attitude and determination in the first half impressed me most when all around him were tired and clueless colleagues. In the second half, he was superb. In fact, he made me wonder if sometimes we wouldn't be a better side without Vardy. I don't really think so but we sacrifice a lot to play to Vardy's strengths/style.
I totally agree. Slim was fantastic. I also think sometimes we are far too predictable with Vardy in the team. That's not necessarily his fault and he is trying to play more with his back to goal and bring the midfield into play. Slim did it very well.

A special mention for both Drago and James.

Once Drago gets fully match fit he will be very good now Wes is out for a spell.

Also, Matty James was incredible considering how long he has been out. He had a fantastic game and second only to Slimani as MOTM.

I agree, certainly about Matty James.
Was quite concerned when he overstretched in a tackle in the 1st half and looked to be struggling for a while aftetwards.
However, he got over it and played a very useful game.

It is fair to say Slimani gives us another option upfront, however Vardy is a different gravy , better ball control more vision, creates far more space for other team mates.
Vardy is doing more than enough for the team at present

I welcome your opinion.

I think we are limited to certain types of chances when he plays at the moment.

It doesn't mean I don't think he's a top player who has achieved an outstanding amount.

I enjoyed watching Slimani smartly put away a lovely one on one that Vardy has been missing recently, despite this being more of a Vardyesque chance.

I think we mixed it up more and enjoyed the variety.

Vardy is clearly first choice by a country mile and rightly so.

I like Slimani, it's just a shame we've not been able to get him and Vardy playing well enough together... However maybe Slimani's performance here will encourage Puel to give that partnership another try.

Completely agree and can’t understand why they can’t play together.

I don't think Slimani is really functional in the "10" role and to put Vardy there blunts him.
I see that but Slimani is mobile and very good in the air. I would also have thought that he would be effective holding up the ball?
